Dynamic vs Static Lines

Dynamic wrinkles appear when expressing emotions & when activating/contracting muscles (making an angry face or raising the eyebrows). Dynamic wrinkles respond very well to Botox as it relaxes the muscle & prevents the overlying skin from creasing.

Static wrinkles remain on the face even after we relax our facial muscles & these lines tends to deepen with age.

REMEMBER: Botox only works on muscles. Botox can reduce static lines but may not get rid of them altogether, especially if they are deeper. Although, repeated treatments will help soften static lines, it is important to have realistic treatment goals.

First & second photos show before & after of dynamic lines (frown lines & horizontal forehead lines). Third photos show before & after of static lines which smoothed out quite nicely!

Treating fine lines early will prevent them from becoming deeper & more difficult to treat in the future.

It’s important to remember that Botox can be a journey & may require multiple treatments to soften/rid static lines & wrinkles.

This is why it is important to continue treatments every 3-4 months for optimal results.
