Saying goodbye is never easy, and this post has been difficult to write. As I get ready to move into a new career and close the salon, I can't help but feel a bit sad. The Nook has been my second home for 5 wonderful years, and I will deeply miss all my clients who are like extended family at this point. I want to say a sincere thank you to everyone who has passed through this space over the last five years. Your support, encouragement, and friendship will be remembered forever. Please stay in touch and know that I will miss you all very, very much.

Hi everyone!
I want to let you all know I will be retiring my hairstyling at the end of December. The salon will be closing and our last day will be December 23, 2023. I can never thank you all enough for the support, encouragement and most importantly friendship over that past eight+ years. I feel so greatful for our time together, it's been so much fun. It's time for me to put my degree to use and try my hand at a different trade.

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well! I just wanted to update you on the salons masking policy. Going forward we will continue to require all guests wear masks while having a service provided. Should you arrive to your appointment without a mask, one will be provided for you free of charge. We will also continue with our health screening, enhanced cleaning and social distancing measures. As always, if you are ill please reschedule or cancel your appointment, no charge will be applied.

Hi everyone in accordance with Ottawa Public Health guidelines for capacity limits we will require that guests wait outside the salon to be welcomed for appointments. We will also require proof of vaccination going forward. As always if you have any new symptoms please cancel your appointment. Stay safe everyone and Happy Holidays!

Hi everyone with covid numbers on the rise again in our community we want to do everything in our power to remain safe and healthy. I want to remind you if you have any symptoms of covid to reach out and reschedule your appointment, there is no charge for last minute cancellation. We will continue our pre-screening and temperature checks and monitor the situation as we await updated information on the new variant from Ottawa Public Health. Hi everyone thank you for you patience and understanding while I figured out the new normal at the salon. The summer went very well and it was so nice to see some familiar faces and get caught up! With school fast approaching I just wanted to let everyone know that I will be opening up a few daytime appointments on Mondays and Fridays. I'm still not accepting new clients but if you have been a client and would like to book a new appointment please message me here or text 613-612-8360 and I will book you in 😊. Going forward we will continue at the salon to practice social distancing, mask wearing, temperature/symptom checks, frequent handwashing and surface disinfecting. At this time I feel it is appropriate to open my book for longer appointments so going forward you will be able to book full highlights/colour corrections etc. I hope we can strike a balance through the winter that keeps everyone safe and well, as always if you have new symptoms of illness please reach out to me to reschedule your appointment.

UPDATE For Clients.
Hi everyone thank you for your patience while Rose and I figure out how reopening the salon will work. We discussed the situation and decided going forward we need to have a list of policies and procedures that will remain in effect at the salon until further notice. The salon experience will be very different going forward and we want to be entirely transparent with our clients so everyone understands the measures in place to protect us all.

*New COVID 19 safety measures*
-The salon will be open by appointment only. I will be reaching out to people who had appointments in March and April that needed to be cancelled first and then I will be contacting people on my wait list.
-Upon your arrival you will be asked to fill out a health assessment checklist, if you are exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 you will be asked to leave and your appointment will be rescheduled.
- A mandatory temperature check will be performed at the door before you enter the salon. If your temperature is elevated for any reason you will be turned away and your appointment will be rescheduled.
-All clients must wear a mask for the duration of the service. If you do not have an acceptable mask one will be provided to you.
-Stylists will wear a mask and or a visor and gloves at all times. These items will be changed frequently and between clients.
-The salon work areas will be fully disinfected between clients.
-Appointments will be a little different. I will not be offering full highlights or balayage at this time as these services can take hours and the best recommendation from health officials is to maintain distance and keep close interactions brief.
- I will be offering partial highlights, root re-touches for colour and haircuts at this time.
-There will be no blow dry/styling services at this time.
-Payments will be contactless if possible, e transfer is strongly recommended.

As you can imagine the cost of putting these measures in place will be sizable. Additional time will be devoted to screening measures and extra disinfection and revenue lost as bookings between colour services are no longer an option. As a result there will be a small increase in the cost of all services. I will update my price list on facebook to make this fully transparent for clients.
On a personal note, please remember I fall into the “high risk” for complications to this virus group. If you are feeling unwell for any reason please please please reach out to me and we will reschedule your appointment. We are looking forward to seeing all our clients but safety is our number one concern, let's work together and keep the salon a safe environment.
