Why is optimal fetal position so important??

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), optimal fetal positioning is seen as essential for a smooth and successful birth. When the fetus is in the optimal position, the flow of energy (or qi) through the mother's body is said to be unobstructed, which can help prepare the mother for labor and delivery.

In TCM, the position of the fetus is influenced by the balance of the mother's internal energies, including blood, yin, and yang. An imbalance of these energies can cause the fetus to be in a less-than-optimal position, which can lead to a longer and more difficult labor.

To help achieve optimal fetal positioning, TCM practitioners may use various techniques, such as acupuncture, moxibustion, and herbal remedies. Acupuncture and moxibustion involve the insertion of fine needles or the burning of mugwort on certain acupuncture points on the mother's body to promote the flow of energy and correct any imbalances. Herbal remedies may also be used to help restore balance to the mother's body.

In addition to these techniques, TCM also emphasizes the importance of self-care during pregnancy. This includes maintaining a healthy diet, getting enough rest, and doing gentle exercises to help promote the flow of energy through the body.

Overall, TCM views optimal fetal positioning as a crucial aspect of a healthy pregnancy and birth. By promoting the balance of the mother's internal energies, TCM can help support the natural process of labor and delivery, leading to a smoother and more successful birth.

Did you know that research suggests that experiencing infertility can activate the same regions of the brain that are activated during other types of traumatic experiences, such as chronic pain or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)?

One of the key brain regions involved in infertility trauma is the amygdala, which is responsible for processing emotional information and triggering the stress response. Individuals experiencing infertility may have a heightened amygdala response to stressors related to infertility, which can lead to increased anxiety and stress.

Another brain region involved in infertility trauma is the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, which plays a key role in regulating the body's stress response. Chronic stress and anxiety related to infertility can dysregulate the HPA axis, leading to hormonal imbalances that can negatively impact fertility.

In addition to these brain regions, research also suggests that individuals experiencing infertility may have changes in brain activity in regions associated with social processing and reward, such as the anterior cingulate cortex and the striatum. These changes may be related to feelings of social isolation, depression, and a decreased sense of reward associated with parenthood.

It is so important to take care of your emotional health during this time. As your friend and practitioner, I’m here to listen, support and offer you my love and understanding as you navigate this journey.

Struggling with infertility can be tough, and it can be hard to find a treatment that really works. But have you heard of Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)?

It's a painless and non-invasive treatment that uses low-powered lasers or LEDs to promote healing and stimulate cell function. And it's been getting some attention lately for its potential benefits in improving fertility for both men and women.

For men, LLLT has been shown to improve s***m count, motility, and morphology. So if you're having trouble in that department, it might be worth looking into.

And for women, LLLT can stimulate ovulation and improve the success rate of IVF and IUI. It's even been shown to reduce inflammation in the reproductive organs, which can help overall reproductive health.

If you're struggling with infertility, LLLT could be a game-changer. Don't give up hope! We now offer laser therapy during acupuncture treatments. Or you can book a separate laser treatment!

Feeling overwhelmed when it comes to fertility?  Whether you're trying to conceive or just starting to think about your reproductive health here are some tips to help you manage your feelings and feel more in control:
•Give yourself time to process your emotions. It's okay to feel a range of emotions when it comes to fertility, including anxiety, frustration, and sadness. Allow yourself time to feel these emotions and express them in a healthy way, such as through journaling, talking to a trusted friend, or seeing a therapist.
•Educate yourself about fertility. Learning more about your body and the factors that can affect your fertility can help you feel more empowered and in control. Talk to your healthcare provider, read reputable sources, and join online support groups for people who are also going through fertility challenges.
•Take care of your physical health. Maintaining a healthy diet, exercising
regularly, and getting enough sleep can all help support your reproductive health. T
•Consider seeking professional help. If you've been trying to conceive for a while without success or have underlying fertility issues, seeking help from a fertility specialist can be a good option. They can provide you with additional support, resources, and treatment options.
•Be kind to yourself. Remember that fertility is complex and often unpredictable. Don't blame yourself or feel guilty if things don't go according to plan. Practice self-compassion and treat yourself with kindness and understanding.
Remember that you are not alone in your feelings of overwhelm. 10 things about me!

1)I am related to Céline Dion
My maiden name is Dion and she is on our family tree…distant, but she is there. Sadly her talents were not genetic - although my shower rendition of The Power of Love is spot on. 😂

2) I built a chicken coop in Guyana.
After I graduated high school I volunteered for 3 months in Guyana with an organization called Youth Challenge International. Highly recommended.

3) I wore brown corduroy pants almost every day for a year.
I really wanted to be a boy when I was little and the obvious way to portray that was to wear the same dirty brown pants over and over and over 🤷🏻‍♀️

4) We named our English bulldog Alan after Zach Galifinackis in the Hangover.
It was the only name we all agreed on, and because it’s funny. He is the BEST.

5) I really, really love my husband.
You guys, I am so lucky. I could write so much about his awesomeness but you just have to trust me. 💕

6) I don’t like chocolate, but I could crush a Costco size family pack of Doritos.
I only eat white chocolate about once a year, then I have over saturated my not so sweet tooth.

7) I loved giving birth, so much that I have seriously considered being a surrogate.
I legit would have had 7 kids but it was just not in the cards. I cherished my birthing experiences so much I think about doing it to help others grow their family.

8) I am a middle child….
I have 2 older sisters and a younger brother and sister. They are all my best friends and our family has always been compared to the Brady Bunch. No fighting, no drama- it’s just always love and laughter.

9) The sound of Bongo drums or African music makes me dance… every single time.
😅 my favourite song to dance to is Magalenha by Sergio Mendes.

10) my hair is 80% grey. I have to dye my roots every 5 weeks.
I once tried to “let it go” but in the process ended up over processing my hair and it almost all fell out. 😩 I’m not traumatized at all. One day I will embrace my inner granny and rock the silver!
