About 2 months ago, I was so excited (and also SO nervous 😂) when a wonderful woman from the Aberdeen Programs Committee reached out to ask if I would host a beginners herbalism evening for them.

At first, I was honestly a bit hesitant because I’ve never done anything like this before. I can be pretty quiet/reserved, so speaking in front of a group like that felt way outside my comfort zone. I told her I’d never taught a class before, but thought it could be really fun, and a chance to grow a little too. I figured it wouldn't be too bad speaking in front of 5-10 people.

The funny thing is, a few weeks before this, I had physically written down a list of things I wanted for myself and for Prairie Roots Botanical. One of those things was getting out into the community more. So I thought… you know what? Let’s do it. I want to share this herbal magic and these plants I love so much with other people.

Then she messaged me the day before with the final number of people signed up… 30 women. 🤯 Terrifying, yet so, so exciting! 30 people want to come learn from ME?!

Last night I spoke about 3 of my favourite herbs (which was SO hard to narrow down 😂). We talked about where to find them, some of their traditional uses, and just a tiny glimpse into why I love them so much - all while I could feel my face turned approximately the same colour as a beet while everyone stared at me. 😂😂

But honestly? It ended up being such a wonderful evening. Everyone was so kind, asked amazing questions, and I loved how engaged and curious everyone was.

Afterward, we made our own oxymels together. Each woman got to choose the herbs that called to her and learn a simple way to bring herbs into everyday life. I truly hope they leave inspired to keep learning, experimenting, and creating at home too.

Getting to chat with everyone and seeing how interested this beautiful little community was in what I had to share genuinely filled my heart so much.

Another restock of Teething Potions have been dropped off at - I dropped off a restock on Tuesday and over half were gone within a day or two! 🤯

Just popping in to say… I’m still here 😂

Spring always shifts my rhythm a little. Around here, it means the gardens waking up, sand covered shoes by the door, homeschool adventures, outdoor field trips, and spending basically every possible second outside with the kids before Saskatchewan decides to snow again 😜

So if posting becomes a little more sporadic over the next while, that’s probably why. I’m not built to be a full-time content machine 😂😂 I’d honestly rather be out in the garden, creating in the apothecary, or chasing my babies around outside while the sun is shining. 🌱

I’ll still be here sharing what I can, when I can… just maybe with a little more dirt under my nails and a little less consistency 😂 So please just know I'm still here, my efforts are just focused on everything else but writing a caption and fighting the instagram algorithms 🤪

• Rosehips
• Freeze-dried raspberries

It makes such a deliciously nourishing blend. So lovely hot, but honestly… I love it even more iced with a little honey & lemon 🤤

This has been one of my favourite things to sip during pregnancy, postpartum, or just on a hot summer day. (A bonus is that the kids LOVE it!) 🩷

Today while cleaning up some of the yard & trimming up the haskaps, I decided to play around with some of these dried plant pieces I had found. Figured I could give them a second life before composting them.

I think it turned out pretty cute! 🌼

Fresh batch of Sunwise Whipped Tallow is officially ready ☀️🌿

Made using hand-rendered pasture-raised tallow, with nourishing raspberry seed oil, carrot seed oil, and non-nano zinc oxide. Whipped into a smooth, creamy texture that melts beautifully into the skin without that heavy white cast most people expect.

This tallow was created with slow summer days in mind - garden wandering, barefoot afternoons in the backyard, lake trips, and golden hour adventures.

Like everything here, it’s made in small batches with whole ingredients and slow processes - no fragrance oils or essential oils.
