Saturation without Trauma… HOW? 🤨

How is it possible to achieve this amount of consistent pigment deposit without causing redness, bleeding, bruising, or excessive swelling? Here is what I do: ⬇️

1: you can’t have minimal swelling without using strong numbing w/ epinephrine. The epinephrine constricts the blood vessels making the skin less prone to reactivity 🍅

2. don’t rip the skin. As soon as you shade too fast, or are dragging/shoving the needle through the skin cause you’re gripping your machine too tight, the skin will tear. You need to minimize FORCE in the skin. Slow + loose and relax shading on lubricated skin is the best 🧘‍♀️

3. do NOT hold the skin down tight. LOOSE and LIGHT, DELICATE stretching is key. why? 👉 because if you hold the skin down, the lip tissue cannot absorb the “shock” of the needle impact. This means all of the absorbation of the hit of the needle goes directly into the most delicate tissue (the top layer of skin), instead of being diffused in the fatty tissue beneath the surface 🥊

After teaching literally 100s of students around the world, we notice the same issues in technique which causes swelling. 1. Rushing work/shading… 2. Artist is unrelaxed, tense or not enjoying the process… 3. The artist is stretching WAY too hard, it’s so unnecessary and actually worse for the outcome 🙈🙉🙊

We’re tattooing one of THE most delicate areas on the body. If you want smooth results you need to be patient and build up color in a careful, slow, and relaxed way 💖

My favourite face tattoo 👄

Shape & color are always customizable and I work with my clients to make sure they get the lips of their dreams 🥇

I love whenever I have the opportunity to do a soft, neutral light pink like this. These colours are so rare and so special to me 💖 #

Tesstattoo Lip Beautification Signature Mixture 🌸

This client flew in from the states with a beautiful canvas to work on. Her lip skin is thin (transparent + shiny), and pale. Which is one of my favourite skins to work on 🧊

She did have some dryness and some scarring so as I was tattooing to avoid trauma I made sure to tattoo through a “glide.” This helps the needle slide through easier on dry skins. Sometimes tattooing thin skin can be more difficult than tattooing somebody who has thicker because thicker skins are less prone to trauma and swelling 🥊

This is one of my all-time most requested mixes and styles. It’s a natural pink with a borderless technique. Gotta give the people what they want ✨

Fun fact : 60 % of my clientele either flies in or drives in from the USA even though I am in Canada 🇺🇸🇨🇦

My TOP tips for Ombré Lip Blush ⬇️

Loved this set! Swipe for immediately after and healed 🩵🌈

1️⃣ To avoid the colour healing too grey, I always add a few drops of a darker bright purple or red into the dark brown. This gives the darker areas life so they heal more natural and “real,” instead of flat or dull.

2️⃣ Sometimes adding just a touch of a bright, light coral in the centre draws the eye inward and makes the lips look more 3-D. It creates a subtle glow that pushes the centre forward and the darker edges back. (I didn’t do this for this client, but I often do for others.)

3️⃣ Ombré lips heal best on clients with an even natural lip tone. If the lips are uneven or very dark, this style won’t heal as softly or blended. The tattoo heals based on what you come in with so an even canvas is key.

4️⃣ Layering is everything. I usually work with three main mixtures: one dark for the contour, one light and desaturated for the centre, and one to blend the two. I’ll also add an extra-dark and extra-light shade at the end for depth and contrast.

5️⃣ Less is more. Choosing the right colours matters… overworking the lips causes redness and swelling, which can take away from the ombré effect. The right pigment depth = better, more natural results with less trauma.

6️⃣ Loosen up your grip on your machine. You’re going to have to do a lot of cross hatching and circular movements as well as use lighter and deeper pressures at certain areas of the lips to get the blend perfect. If you’re too stiff you won’t be able to adjust your technique as quickly.

FAV Lip Set of 2026 👑🏆

Why this set is one of my personal favs:
🩵 Perfect shape
🩵 Seamless saturation
🩵 Unique, dimensional colour
🩵 Finish is true to color & flattering
🩵 Clean outline
🩵 Zero swelling
🩵 Buttery finish = no trauma
🩵 No irritation or redness

I take my time because I create results that look photoshopped without a single edit. Meanwhile other trainers in industry are posting filtered work claiming it’s “raw” 😂💀

I show you real videos because 99% of permanent makeup online is altered. And NO! ➡️ bleeding, swelling, bruising or client discomfort is NOT normal.
It’s bad technique. 🤬

Trainers say it’s “expected” so that they themselves and their work don’t look bad… then artists who train under them wonder why their clients (and they themselves) are always disappointed and embarrassed of the work. I used to be that artist too until I learned better. You don’t have to stay stuck! 🌈

Watch closely who you invest in. Make sure their work is actually worth your money. Check out and find out who their students are and if they are successful too! I am SO proud of my students out there who are also LEADING industry trainers! Love you guys 🥹❤️👑

After 6 years, I finally got my lips tattooed again… ⬇️

Over time my lips got duller and duller. I couldn’t leave the house without something on them, and I hated how flat and pale my face looked bare 😶 So I finally booked it in.. and my girl didn’t disappoint

Doing thousands of lip tattoos didn’t prepare me for what I learned when I finally did my own again. Here’s what I learned ⚠️

1️⃣ Stretching + machine hold matter more than anything.
If the artist isn’t stretching properly or is death-gripping the machine… it HURTS. Literally every single student that comes into my class does this without realizing it. Hand positioning is non-negotiable in my classes, and now that I’ve had it done on myself, I’m BEYOND strict about it. Client comfort is my #1 priority… most of mine fall asleep because of the way I stretch and hold the machine 🥇

2️⃣ The color WILL look “wrong” and “incomplete” while it heals.
That’s normal. It changes fast, so don’t get attached to (or freaked out by) any stage. It will likely always heal softer and more natural than you expect 🌸

3️⃣ If you get cold sores, take the medication.
I forgot I even get them, so I didn’t take anything beforehand… and of course a few popped up. The trauma from the procedure can trigger them if you carry the HSV. Thankfully Valtrex, L-Lysine, and prescription cream cleared mine in a day 💊

4️⃣ Trust your artist.
I’d never let someone work on my face if I didn’t trust them. I knew doing my lips would make Micah a little nervous, especially because I’m picky AND teaching at the same time… our appointment was basically a 7-hour training day.
But as someone who works on clients myself, I know how damaging it is for the outcome of the procedure when someone shows doubt to you as a client to artist. I made sure Micah felt fully trusted and free to work… and she did her best work on me 😍🎨

Let me introduce : MY PIGMENTS 🌈🎨

When I began creating this set five years ago, my goal was to design a line you’d never forget… Shades that stand boldly on their own, blend beautifully together, and feel rare, elevated, and practical for every client 👸

After tattooing thousands of people, I realized something universal: most clients want the same thing when it comes to lip tattooing… wearable, captivating colour they can adore every day. They want to look irresistible 💋

I took my all-time favourite and most popular mixes (used on every skin tone for years) and blended them into each pigment. Inside the set you’ll find cool, neutral, and warm tones, plus bright, rich, dark, soft, and light shades.
This collection contains practically everything you need to create the perfect lip colour for every unique client 👩‍🔬

Because of the high pigment load and juicy consistency, this line makes tattooing easier: less product and less work is needed which means less trauma, and truer colour results. The line performs best with the technique: 1RL, slow speeds, light stretch, and gradual layering of color 🌸

Bringing this to life with my favourite brand since day 1, , has been a dream. Thanks to all who have bought and used the set already!! 🤍✨

We made it to Miami & looking forward to the conference next week! ❤️

Shout out always to my #1 who has been with me now for 3 1/2 years. I couldn’t have asked for a better partner to take along on all of these journeys and have by my side along the way ⭐️

Together we have been all over the world, to over 10 countries, have spent weeks on the road sharing a bed, have seen many incredible things, met many amazing people, and have taught hundreds of students together 👯‍♀️

Building a team is not easy, especially when you care so much about your business, clients, and students. It’s not very often that you get to have something as special as this in business and work with someone who supports your business even more than you do. I’m very lucky to have my companion & she is my queen ❤️

works with me and our newest member at and she also takes clients in Toronto + the 🌎 when we travel. She has taught practically every training with me, has some of the most amazing healed work I’ve seen, and even though she prefers not to show it online - she is the most funny person that I know🫡💞

Appreciation post to my ride or die in this industry 😭❤️🙏 Miami content coming soon ➡️

Dark lip neutralization HEALED results after 2 sessions ❤️

Loving these unbeatably natural healed results!! So perfect for everyday ❤️🥹

On the initial session I used Bora Bora Peach to lighten and neutralize her darkness, followed my Albert Fish Blossom on second session which gave them a more pinkish tinge for the healed while further neutralizing 🥰

Not every client’s goals are the same however most of my clients who have dark lips do want their lips to be even-toned & lightened. The only way to provide an even tone is by 1. Adding coverage to cover up the melanin or 2. By lightening the darkness to the same value as the Center of their lips 🎨

Because where we tattoo is below the area where melanin sits and is produced, if you use any pigment that is UVB or UVA light absorbing rather than reflecting with a darker value than the melanin itself, lips will only “tint” and not become even, or they may become even more dark and uneven 🫣

This is why I prefer warmer brighter colors for dark lips, always using something that has titanium dioxide in it, which is nearly 100% reflective, backlighting the melanin, lightening it while also providing coverage as titanium dioxide generally has a big molecular size 🫡

How did I “whiten” these lips? Let’s talk about it ⬇️

This HEALED set is one of my all time favs. It caused a lot of controversy in the industry and many people talked about this before and after in Facebook groups back in 2018 when I posted this set for the first time. Achieving successful healed results for dark lips back when was taboo and no one trusted my work.. 😶‍🌫️

Still to this day (with yearly touchups), the healed results look stunning! 🤩

A lot of clients come in asking for this result but as we know, exact replica’s can be really difficult to achieve as every case is unique 👯‍♀️

This healed result from the before and after pictures were taken after 2 sessions. On the 1st session I used “BORA BORA PEACH” from world famous ink to neutralize the lips. Once the client came back with neutralized lips, I used “BIG APPLE RED” from world famous ink which turned the result baby pink 🌸

Although I have the formula that created this set, I have never been able to 100% replicate it on another person. This is because there are other factors that play into how a tattoo heals like:

👉 Skin condition
👉 Natural skin color
👉 Natural lip color
👉 Pre/Post care
👉 Pigments chosen
👉 Tools used
👉 How you apply the pigment into the skin

Every case is very unique which is why color theory knowledge is essential in lip tattooing to help guide you on how to achieve your client’s goal as close as possible and what is realistic and what is not. Sometimes amazing results happen by chance and can just be unpredictable. Artists can never 100% predict exact results. ⭐️

Presenting Lip Color Theory in MY HOMETOWN this September 🇨🇦

Never in my life would I have imagined that when I started PMU almost 7 years ago, I would one day be on stage to speak at a conference in the very city I grew up and started this whole journey in 😭🌲

This conference is such an honour and so incredibly important to me. Not only because it is held in my favourite place or the area that Tesstattoo started and grew in, but also because I will be speaking amongst some of my bestest friends, and my biggest inspirations within the community 🏆

As an artist myself who is constantly looking to learn, grow, and get better in my craft - I really look forward to learning from these incredible women and spending time with likeminded, talented and honest artists. 👯‍♀️

I can not wait to present the topic that I love most and that helps artists everywhere feel confident in Lip Color Theory. I will be presenting with my new and updated teaching materials regarding pigments, skin, color and application so that you can learn how to always be confident in the way you work and the pigments you choose for your clients 🎨

I hope to see you with me Vancouver PMU community and many others who may travel to us to learn and love ❤️
