Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD)

NAFLD if left undiagnosed can cause liver damage and over time even lead to liver cancer. One of the most common causes associated with NAFLD is a poor diet. However, a balanced, natural diet, containing a high proportion of vegetables, herbs, whole grains and limited processed foods can help prevent liver damage or even reverse it if in the early stages. Below are a few tips for a diet best suited to prevent NAFLD.

Eat a variety of vegetables and salad. (e. g. radicchio, chicory, rocket, artichokes, endive salad).
Incorporate fresh herbs (thyme, marjoram, lovage, rosemary) and wild herbs (sour sorrel, portulac, dandelion, wild garlic and much more) into your diet.
Use a lot of spices when preparing food, especially ginger, pepper, caraway, mustard, cardamom, garlic and turmeric.
Add citrus fruits such as grapefruit, oranges, lemons, and pomelo into your diet.
Drink green tea or red bush tea.

Foods that’s can help as a part of stress management

Stress
Many of us have been experiencing increased amounts of stress for a long time. Although there are many ways to manage stress, one way is through food! Specific foods can support your body and provide valuable stress relief. Foods associated with relieving stress include:

•Green tea: contains L-theanine which promotes feelings of calm.
•Leafy greens such as spinach and kale contain magnesium which helps regulate the stress hormone cortisol.
•Oily fish: the omega 3 fatty acids are thought to reduce excess cortisol, and help you feel less anxious.
•Eggs: the choline found in eggs is needed for a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine that helps with good mood and reduced anxiety.
•Pumpkin seeds are packed with magnesium, zinc and potassium which are all excellent at managing stress symptoms.
•Turmeric: the curcumin found in turmeric may boost your happiness and pleasure hormones of serotonin and dopamine.

A study published in the British Medical Journal compared eight vital and metabolic programs. Metabolic Balance was the only program to reach the criteria which are required for a long-term success, that is: “50% of the participants in this survey sustained reduction of 5% or more of their initial weight and kept it off for one year. “
