MONDAY !

The weather has me feeling nostalgic about one of my favourite old studio locations : COLLEGE+OSSINGTON.

That space was my first and only attempt at a street level studio front and my third location overall. (We’ve had 8 studio locations over time since 2011, and have 3 today!)

It was well before the pandemic, and where we were on College was cute and quaint and quiet … but steps away from what really made Toronto cool.

At the time we had our smaller beauty bar set up at Yonge and Wellington too .. so we had both east and west of downtown Toronto COVERED!

But some of the best things about the College Street studio - the lighting in the back room, the stairwells that allowed Sam and I to create lots of looks and shoot them with my own camera (I thought we were so cool! Lol), and the pink and white walls.

The sun used to come in so nice … and the front room reception was hella cute.

But anyway … this photo is giving Summer. Sam - our extraordinaire always had plenty of ideas and I just went along for the ride and creativity.

To be back there, Sam braiding hair and me doing makeup that showcased sexy summer skin and monochromatic hints of colour, working with models always game to be photographed … TAKE ME BACK!!!

Le sigh. Here’s hoping we have a hot hot summer!

Words of wisdom from a seasoned artist :

If you’re an artist, always be creating for the sake of creating - not just to produce content to hook your client demographic and not because you’re getting paid to do the shoot.

Create with a friend. Create with a fellow beauty artist. Create a look and style that isn’t necessarily on trend but just something YOU thought would be cool.

Creating for YOU and not your client is how you keep falling in love with your craft.
