Cycle day 14 (feels like one million).

Migraine intensity: 100.

Hormones suspected.

For years, migraine has largely been treated as a neurological condition. But for many women, it's also a hormonal one.

Women are 3–4 times more likely than men to experience migraine, and nearly 2 in 3 women with migraine report attacks around their menstrual cycle.

If your migraines tend to show up:
• around ovulation
• before your period
• during perimenopause
• or alongside other hormonal symptoms

…it may be worth looking beyond the headache itself.

But no need to walk the plank. There is good news.

From newer medications and Botox to hormone therapy (when appropriate) and lifestyle strategies, there are more treatment options than ever before. And for many women, it's not about choosing between migraine care or hormone care. It's about understanding the whole picture.

Have you noticed a connection between your migraines and your cycle? 👇

What do Marilyn Monroe, Dolly Parton, and Lena Dunham have in common?

Endometriosis.

Different generations. Different stories. One condition that has caused millions of women to suffer in silence.

Historically, women with endometriosis were labelled dramatic, difficult, emotional, or "too much" when they were actually living with chronic pain, fatigue, fertility challenges, and symptoms that were poorly understood.

You try being patient or demure when you feel like your bowels are exploding.

Celebrities are sharing their stories and the new documentary, End Of The Cycle is helping bring these stories into the spotlight.

Awareness matters. Stories matter.

But access matters most.

As Coven's co-founder Dr. Michelle Jacobson OBGYN recently shared on Global News, the goal isn't simply awareness. It's identifying symptoms earlier, putting women on the right pathway sooner, and avoiding years of unnecessary suffering.

What questions do you have for Dr. Michelle Jacobson about endometriosis diagnosis or treatment? 👇

It's Friday. You're tired. You're digging deep to find the energy for the weekend.

You're a woman, so you've probably been told that's normal.

But what if it's not?

What if there's an actual reason you're exhausted?

What if there's an actual reason your hair is falling out? And it's not because you've spent the week managing everyone else's problems. 🫠

What if your iron is to blame despite your labs showing your levels are normal?

Dr. J sees this all the time: many women with symptoms of iron deficiency are told their labs are normal because their ferritin falls within the laboratory reference range.

BUT, laboratory reference ranges don’t always tell the whole story.

While there is ongoing debate about the ideal ferritin threshold, some women experience symptoms despite ferritin values that are technically "normal." In the right context, ferritin levels below 50 μg/L, and sometimes even below 80 μg/L, may represent insufficient iron stores.

So if you're struggling with:
• Fatigue
• Brain fog
• Hair loss
• Poor sleep
• Low mood
• Reduced exercise tolerance

Don't automatically assume it's stress or just the joys of aging.

Sometimes "normal" isn't the whole story and it’s ok to ask your care provider to investigate.

What else do you want to know about Iron from Dr. J? 👇

Histamine does a lot more than make you sneeze (and then p*e your pants).

A recent Chatelaine article, featuring our very own Dr. J,  explored a viral TikTok trend claiming that a combination of allergy medications and antacids may help with perimenopause symptoms.

As it turns out, the science is a little more interesting (and a lot more complicated) than social media would have you believe.

According to Dr.J, estrogen and histamine appear to have a relationship that goes both ways. Estrogen can stimulate histamine release, while histamine can stimulate estrogen production, creating a potential feedback loop.

And histamine isn't just involved in allergies. It also plays a role in sleep, mood, body temperature regulation, digestion, and more.

Which might help explain why some women notice worsening congestion, itchiness, bloating, reflux, sleep disruption, or other seemingly random symptoms during perimenopause.

The important caveat - A biological explanation is not the same thing as a proven treatment.

While there is real biology behind the trend, research is still limited, and antihistamines and antacids are not currently considered standard treatments for perimenopause symptoms.

One thing we do know for sure: hormones affect a lot more than periods and hot flashes.

Swipe through for Dr. J's take on the estrogen-histamine connection.

This week, Melinda French Gates announced a landmark investment in women's health with the goal of improving access to care for women around the world 🌎 🎉❤️

With all the challenges women continue to face, especially for those without the means to access healthcare, those are some receipts. 🧾

Real investment. Real action. Real change.

The kind of receipts that prove progress is possible.

The kind left behind by people willing to challenge bias, push back on stigma, fund research, ask harder questions, and refuse to accept that "it's normal" is a good enough answer.

So we wanted to share a few receipts from the Coven.

🦀 From Cindy Eckert's fight to bring treatment options to women whose sexual health had long been dismissed.

🌸 To Joanna Griffiths using her platform to spark bigger conversations about women's health and helping bring The Pink Pill to life.

🩺 To our co-founder, Dr. Michelle Jacobson (aka Dr. J), who has dedicated her career to advancing menopause care, hereditary cancer prevention, survivorship, research, education, and a better standard of care for women.

Progress doesn't happen by accident.

It happens when people challenge outdated systems, invest in better solutions, and refuse to accept the status quo.

Women's health isn't a niche issue.

It's a health issue.

Who else is showing their receipts? We'd love to hear about the clinicians, researchers, advocates, founders, policymakers, and organizations helping move women's health forward.

You are not too much.

You are not imagining things.

And you shouldn't have to figure it all out on your own.

Every day, we meet women navigating symptoms that affect how they feel, work, sleep, parent, exercise, and show up in their lives.

Perimenopause.
Menopause.
Sleep disruption.
Low libido.
Anxiety.
Brain fog.
Weight changes.
Migraines.
PMOS.
PMDD.

Sometimes the hardest part isn't the symptom itself.

It's not knowing where to start.

At Coven, we believe women deserve a clear starting point, evidence-based guidance, and a care plan that reflects the whole picture. Not just one symptom.

That's why we bring together nurse health coaches, nurse practitioners, dietitians, therapists, and OBGYN expertise to support women through every stage of hormonal health.

Whether you're looking for answers, a diagnosis, a treatment plan, or simply someone to help connect the dots, we're here to help.

Three plot twists about perimenopause no one warned us about:

1️⃣ Shorter cycles can happen before you have more time between periods

2️⃣ Regular periods don’t mean you are free from symptoms

3️⃣ Pregnancy is still possible even if you’re down to one period a year

It makes total sense that so many women feel confused or unsure about what’s “normal”.

The good news? You don’t have to figure any of it out alone. What’s one thing that has surprised you about perimenopause – let’s talk about it together, Coven style 👇

Wait...PCOS has a new name? Why does this matter?

The condition many of us know as PCOS (Polycystic O***y Syndrome) is now being referred to as PMOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome).

Why the change?

Because the name PCOS has never told the full story.

Many women diagnosed with PCOS don't actually have ovarian cysts. But they may experience:

✨ Irregular periods
✨ Acne
✨ Unwanted hair growth
✨ Weight changes
✨ Insulin resistance
✨ Fertility challenges
✨ Anxiety and depression

The updated name recognizes that this is a complex hormonal and metabolic condition—not simply an issue with the ovaries.

While the name may be changing, one thing isn't:

Too many women still wait years for answers, struggle to get a diagnosis, and are left trying to piece together care on their own.

You deserve better.

If you're navigating PMOS/PCOS, our team can help you better understand your symptoms, identify underlying drivers, and build a personalized plan that works for your life.
