The Hair Oiling Tradition That Traveled Across Oceans has been passed down through generations as a cherished ritual of beauty, wellness, and self-care, moving from India to Trinidad and blending across cultures along the way. In many Indian households, hair oiling was a weekly practice used to nourish the scalp, strengthen the hair, and support healthy growth, often done with care and intention as part of family routine.
When East Indian ancestors came to Trinidad, they brought these herbal hair care traditions with them, where they naturally blended with Caribbean ingredients and local practices over time. This created a rich, living tradition of scalp and hair care that continues in many homes today.
Applying oil before washing, often called a pre-poo treatment, helps soften the hair, reduce breakage, improve manageability during detangling, and protect against moisture loss.
This herbal oil is crafted with coconut oil, olive oil, onion, black seed, fenugreek, ginger, hibiscus, rosemary, brahmi, and clove—ingredients long valued in traditional hair care systems for their nourishing properties.
Massaging the oil into the scalp and hair before washing becomes more than just a step in a routine; it becomes a moment to slow down, care for yourself, and honor a tradition that has been carried through generations.

My love for West Indian bay leaf goes way back to summer vacations in Trinidad at my grandmother’s house. 🌿
She had a bay leaf tree right in front of her gallery, and every time I’d sit and lime (just chill), that warm, comforting scent would drift through the air.
Grandma used it in everything—bush tea, cocoa tea, porridge, stews. And before we flew back to Canada, she’d always dry bundles for us to take home. My mom kept the tradition going, and so did I.
Years later, when I began studying holistic hair care and ingredient formulation, I rediscovered what my heart already knew—West Indian bay leaf is powerful.
Traditionally used across the Caribbean for scalp and hair care, it’s known to help support scalp circulation, strengthen strands, reduce shedding, and add shine.
And I knew instantly… it had to be in my formulations. Especially my Peppermint + West Indian Bay Leaf Leave-In Conditioner. Because healthy, resilient hair starts with consistent moisture and care.
This herb isn’t just an ingredient to me, —it’s memory, lineage, and medicine. My absolute favourite. 🌿✨

Motherhood is truly such a blessing. Watching my children grow so quickly is both beautiful and bittersweet — you go from being their guide to becoming more of a mentor and friend as they grow into young adults. It’s not always easy, but it is deeply meaningful and one of the greatest gifts in my life.
I’m so grateful for my wonderful mother, who continues to support me and love her grandchildren so dearly, and for my husband, who leads our family with strength and care. My family is my greatest “why” — the reason that fuels and inspires everything I do in both my life and my business.
To all the mothers, I wish you a beautiful Mother’s Day. May your days be filled with love, meaningful moments, and time to nourish and pour back into yourself. 💚

4 Tips for Anemia Related Hair Loss🌱
Blumseed’s Hair Growth Oil — rich, earthy infusion with warm, herbaceous notes designed to nourish the scalp, strengthen strands, and support fuller, healthier hair growth.
Let’s talk real moisture…
Water is the true source of moisture—so it always starts with washing your hair.
If your hair and scalp feel dry, you might be waiting too long between wash days.
After washing, don’t skip your leave-in conditioner—it brings the moisture back in.
As the days go by, refresh your hair with water or a water-based mist, then follow with your leave-in.
Then seal it in with your oil.
Remember—oil doesn’t add moisture, it locks it in.
Water first… then seal. 💧✨
