Uterus not so Cuterus

Hi friends,
Let’s get health real over here.

This is official notice that I’m going on medical leave for pretty much all of May to recover from a hysterectomy.

I’ve never had a “good period”, usually they are a painful hellscape. A full body horror show. it’s only taken multiple decades to get to a place where I finally have trauma informed care that actually values my health as a woman and not as a potential breeding machine. By no means am I unique in that. Because patriarchy, obvi. 🫠

I’m scared, I hate this stuff, but also I’m excited to maybe have less pain and maybe even less migraines.
This is the right choice for sure. Just overwhelming.

Existing in my body and struggling with my nervous system has never been the easiest and this year was one of the most painful ones.

I’m a neurodivergent, chronically ill, artistic, sensitive q***r weirdo. I run a small business full of similar humans in a very unsure time.

This was my first year running it on my own, and to say it’s changed me would be an understatement. Nothing has ever challenged me more. And while no part of this I do alone, I’ve never been more proud and never felt more purpose.

When you’re living with disabilities every day is a question mark, sometimes I feel like a part time person, the clock actively mocks me.

But I’ve learned so much about what really matters.

I learned about what care for myself and from others really looks like.

I’ve learned how much I want to be stronger so I can help so many more people like me.

I’ve learned to say “f**k that” and “hell no” to so much bu****it.

I’ve learned that I may do everything differently but that’s fu***ng okay.

I can fight for things to be better.
I can fight for me.
I can fight for rest and softness and small joys.

And I will do all this as long as I can so can help create space for you too.
