Let's talk about why color selection is so important, and why it's crucial that you use an artist who understands what goes into the pigments they use.

During my appointments, we work together to select a color that is suitable for you and your skin. As an artist, I consider things such as your lip color, your overall skin tone, your favorite lip color, and ultimately, what your goal is with lip blush. I also am considering what colorants are more predominant in the pigments, to make sure we select something that is going to age well.

My client here had lip blush done a few times over the past 20 years. Originally the color was a *light* peach. Over time, the pigment in the skin was processed by the body and different individual colorants were processed at different rates. What was once light peach, is now white, after all the non-white colors were processed by the body.

While it would have been easy to use any color my client wanted and have that bandaid cover the white, I looked at the chemical make ups of all my pigments and only considered the ones that were not heavy on white. I did not want to add to the problem. Instead we opted for a customized mixture of two red dominant colors, to counteract the existing white, leaving behind the appearance of a nice, natural pink color.

My client's request was a color that will give her a natural color back. How did we do?

I asked my client today what she was hoping to achieve with lip blush. Her concerns were that the peaks of her cupids bow were sharp and she wanted a rounder, softer shape. Check out the difference this small change in shape made!

Fuller lips ✔️

This client wanted low maintenance fuller lips, without having to commit to filler. For the top lip, I extended the shape to create fullness that was more proportionate to the bottom lip. The result is a more youthful fuller lip for this busy mom on the go!
