Nguyen Artistry
Nguyen Artistry is a bridal makeup and hair team based in Ontario. Offering studio services in Brantford and mobile services to surrounding areas.
Brides, if your stylist is transparent with you about a recommendation, please know we’re not trying to steer you away from your vision.
We’re sharing our professional opinion based on experience, your hair type, your desired style, and the conditions of your wedding day.
Every hair texture is different. Every hair type reacts differently to humidity, heat, wind, movement, and wear throughout the day. What works beautifully on one bride may not necessarily wear the same way on another.
That’s why consultations and bridal previews matter. They give us the opportunity to discuss the reality of how a style may hold up and offer alternatives when needed.
At the end of the day, the decision is always yours. Our role is simply to provide guidance so you can make an informed choice.
A recommendation isn’t a restriction, it’s professional insight based on experience.

For a long time, it was just me.
One artist. One kit. One wedding at a time.
As demand grew, I had a choice: stay solo or build something bigger.
What I learned is that building a team isn’t just about taking on more weddings. It’s about creating a consistent experience, surrounding yourself with artists who share your values, and making sure every client feels cared for from inquiry to aisle.
Growing from a solo artist to a team has taught me a lot about leadership, communication, trust, and letting go of the idea that I have to do everything myself.
It’s not always easy, and there have definitely been lessons along the way. But seeing my team support bridal parties, grow in their artistry, and show up for one another reminds me why I started building in the first place.
Now we’re a team and if you are in need of a team that gets you and feel understood, you’re in the right place. Inquire in our bio link 🔗
Sometimes coming back from a large bridal party just hits you and you don’t even know it until you sit in your car
The moment I knew I wanted to do makeup and hair as a career didn’t happen right away.
I started freelancing 6 years ago, but it wasn’t until 3 years ago that I finally left a job where I was burnt out and dealing with a family emergency that changed my perspective on life.
I remember my mom telling me that my Ong Muoi (Grand Uncle #10) was sick, but I don’t think I truly understood how sick he was. It wasn’t until I saw a photo of him on Facebook. He had lost so much weight, looked almost unrecognizable, and all I kept hearing was how much he wanted to talk to me.
If I’m being honest, I was avoidant. I didn’t want to accept what was really happening.
When I learned that he was in the final stages of lung cancer, I think something in me shifted.
Everything I thought was important suddenly didn’t feel important anymore.
At the time, I was a store manager working long hours, constantly stressed and burnt out. Meanwhile, someone I loved was living the final months of his life, and I realized how much of my own life I was letting pass me by.
I wish I could say I courageously quit my job to pursue my dream full-time, but the truth is more complicated than that.
It took watching someone I love run out of time for me to realize just how short life really is.
My Ong Muoi used to ask my mom, “Where’s my daughter?” whenever he wanted to see me.
Three years later, I still carry those lessons with me.
Every bridal booking, every client, every artist on my team, every step of building Nguyen Artistry traces back to that moment.
This business exists because someone I loved reminded me that life is too short to spend it waiting.
One of my favourite parts about being a bridal hair and makeup artist is getting to be part of the quiet moments before the celebration begins 🤍
From setting up my kit to the final touches, wedding mornings are often filled with excitement, nerves, happy tears, laughter, and anticipation for what is to come.
While the ceremony may only last a short while, these moments are part of the memories too.
A little glimpse into a wedding morning from my perspective ✨

As a bridal artist, one thing I’ve learned is that choosing your beauty vendor is rarely just about hair and makeup.
It’s about trust.
It’s about feeling understood.
It’s about knowing someone can take your vision and bring it to life while still making you feel like yourself.
The prettiest makeup isn’t always the right artist, just like the biggest following isn’t always the right fit.
Before you hit “Inquire” to a beauty vendor, here are a few things I think are worth considering. 🤍💍
Save this post for later if you’re currently planning your wedding day.
A few days ago, I had the pleasure of welcoming T into the studio all the way from North York 💗
One of the most common questions I get asked is, “Do your clients really travel for their bridal trial?”
The answer is absolutely yes.
Over the years, I have had brides travel from Montreal, Brockville, North York, and beyond to sit in my chair. For me, a bridal trial is more than just testing hair and makeup. It is an opportunity to connect, understand your vision, and learn what makes you feel the most confident and beautiful.
My in-studio bridal trials are intentionally designed to be a slower, more personalized experience away from the city noise and the hustle of everyday life. It gives us the time and space to discuss your wedding, your preferences, your concerns, and create a look that feels authentically you.
The best part of what I do has never been just the makeup or hair. It is getting to know the incredible women who trust me to be part of such an important chapter in their lives.
Thank you, T, for making the trip and spending the afternoon with me 🥹✨

Ever been told “the higher the hair the closer to God”?
Yeah, I think that’s what this particular client REALLY wanted lol.
In real life, I actually have been told to tease and backcomb for volume but not quite like this 😂
For the aspiring makeup artist who wants to pursue makeup as a career or someone just starting out, please educate yourself, soak up the right information, and continue practicing your skills to do better.
I can’t tell you how many clients sit in my chair for a consultation only to tell me the same pain points:
“an artist didn’t know how to work with my monolids or features”
or
“I had to wipe off my makeup because the artist didn’t know what they were doing.”
Being in this industry for 6 years, this is unfortunately a very common complaint and something that has sadly become normalized.
Please continue to educate yourself to become a better artist, not only for yourself, but for the next client sitting in your chair. Clients should never feel like they are a difficult client based on their features or skin tone, and they certainly should not leave an appointment feeling less than.
As artists, we have the privilege of doing someone’s makeup because they are putting their trust in us. The biggest mistake is assuming you can do every face without the proper education, understanding, or skillset because ultimately it affects both the client experience and you as an artist.
Education is free. Practice is necessary. Integrity matters.
Bridal trials are more than just “testing makeup”.
This was a bridal trial session I had over the weekend and believe it or not, this is not the first time I’ve heard a client tell me they either wanted to wipe off their makeup immediately after a session or sat through an appointment with an artist who simply did not understand how to work with Asian features.
As an artist, it honestly breaks my heart hearing these experiences because makeup should make you feel seen, enhanced and comfortable in your own skin, not disconnected from yourself 😭🥲
Working with Asian features, monolids, softer facial structures, skin texture and eye placement all require intention and understanding. Makeup is not a one size fits all experience and confidence alone does not replace education and experience.
I’m always grateful when my clients trust me enough to share their past experiences and allow me to create something that still feels like THEM at the end of the appointment 🥹💗
Bridal makeup should never feel like you’re wearing someone else’s face.
