Hyaluronic Acid Daily Sun Gel SPF 30 ☀️

I’m always a little cautious with lightweight sunscreens.

With sensitive skin, something that feels “too light” can sometimes mean irritation… or not enough comfort — especially on my drier areas.

And if I’m being honest, I tend to approach Korean sunscreens carefully.
They’re known for their elegant textures, but fermented ingredients are often part of the formulation — and that hasn’t always worked for my skin.

So I took my time with this one.

After a few weeks of testing, it’s one I’ve been reaching for consistently.

It absorbs quickly, doesn’t leave a white cast on my skin, and feels moisturizing without tipping into oily — which is where a lot of sunscreens lose me.

The finish is soft and radiant… not shiny, not heavy — just healthy, hydrated skin.

Sensitive-skin approved ✔️

Do you prefer your sunscreen to feel weightless… or more nourishing?

✨2025 Empties Series — Toners & Mists

Toners are one of those skincare steps people often debate.

Do you really need them?
For me, they’re less about necessity and more about support.

Just like cleansers, toners are situational in my routine. It depends on my skin’s needs, the type of routine I’m doing, and sometimes even the season. On a retinol night, for example, I’ll often skip toning altogether. In winter, I tend to lean more on hydrating formulas that help support my barrier.

Because my skin is sensitive, blemish-prone, and dehydrated, I gravitate toward toners that either add hydration or provide gentle exfoliation without pushing my skin too far.

This group ended up representing four very different roles in a routine: hydration, exfoliation, blemish support… and one viral experiment.

One standout for me continues to be Pixi Glow Tonic. Glycolic acid is the AHA my skin responds best to, and this formula has proven itself over the years. I use it a few nights a week rather than daily, and I appreciate how versatile it is — I’ve even used it under my arms to help with odor and hyperpigmentation. It’s also one of my go-to travel products because it’s reliable and multifunctional.

The Benton Aloe BHA Toner is another favourite, especially in winter when my skin needs hydration but still benefits from gentle pore support.

The Marcelle Clari-T Toner is a straightforward salicylic acid option that helps keep congestion in check — and it’s always nice when I have the opportunity to support a Canadian brand.

And then there was the hypochlorous acid spray — honestly one of those purchases where the internet convinced me. I had high hopes, but I didn’t notice any meaningful difference in either the frequency or duration of my breakouts.

Interestingly, the only one I wouldn’t repurchase was also the most viral — a reminder that what’s trending doesn’t always translate to results, at least for my skin.
Toners may not be essential, but the right one can be a useful tool depending on what your skin needs that day.

Which step should I tackle next in the 2025 Empties Series?

This perfume wasn’t just designed to smell good.

created this bottle with accessibility in mind. The curved cap makes it easier to grip and twist open, while the wide spray surface allows the fragrance to be applied with minimal pressure — even using the palm or forearm.

For people living with arthritis, lupus, tremors, or reduced dexterity, small design choices like this can make a real difference.

It’s a reminder that thoughtful beauty isn’t only about formulas or ingredients.

Sometimes it’s about design.

Inclusive design matters — and it’s something I hope we see more of across the beauty industry.

The story of a woman’s life is rarely written alone.

It is shaped by the who grow beside us —
childhood friends, sisters by blood and by choice,
the ones who help us build new homes,
and the mothers and grandmothers who hold our families together.

Today feels like a good day to honour them.

Happy International Women’s Day. 🤍

❄️ These days have been so cold that I need doses of sunshine wherever I can get it….

☀️Which led me to pull out the in the iconic Cheirosa 62 scent. Man it’s been forever since I had one in the rotation and it’s just as good as I remember. The sunny yellow packaging instantly cues happy thoughts. The silky creamy texture absorbs well and skin is left soft and moisturized… but the scent… the scent is really what makes it irresistible… pistachio, salted caramel and vanilla?!? No wonder Cheirosa means ‘incredibly delicious’ in Portuguese… cuz I do be feeling like a snack after slathering it on. 🤭

Have you tried this one? What do you think of it??

🍯 Honey Potion Plus ✨ ⁣

I adore anything honey. It is a nourishing antioxidant rich powerhouse that helps balance bacteria and speed up skin healing. The user experience of this mask is beyond reproach. The glass honey comb vessel, colour, smell, and texture evoke a thick luxurious honey. Follow that up with the creamy transformation and warming sensation especially on a cold day; it makes for a truly delightful sensory experience.⁣

In addition to honey, Honey Potion Plus is formulated with upcycled Apple extract, Niacinamide, Centella and Ceramides to replenish and restore the moisture barrier. ⁣

It only takes 10-15mins and my skin is soft, glowing and plump, even better I feel like there is improvement to my skin’s health every time I use it. If you are dry, dehydrated and/or sensitive or just in need of a spa experience at home; Honey Potion Plus is that girl. ⁣

✨Do you go for facials?⁣

For a long time I didn’t put stock in them. I put l them in “pampering” instead of the “treatment” category. They didn’t seem to do much and I always had anxiety that my sensitive skin would react to the rigid selection of products used for the service. ⁣

Pregnancy changed that. My skin was so bad. I felt defeated and helpless. Doctor said there was nothing I could do until the baby came. That wasn’t good enough for me. A friend recommended Katie. An aesthetician that specialized in blemish prone skin and provided bespoke facials based on the clients needs. What really sealed the deal was that she did extractions, a rarity it seems for a Canadian facial. ⁣

The difference she made in my skin was immeasurable. Over time my skin has healed to the point that I only see her once a season for maintenance. All this to say that products and good habits at home can only take you so far, sometimes you need a trusted professional to work with you so that you can actually reap the benefits of your skincare rituals. ⁣

What about you? I’d love to hear about your thoughts or experiences with facials.
