You see, Folk magic in practice doesn't require people to sit in and meditate upon their own selves. It requires going to visiting of power in the middle of the night and making pacts with spirits, it requires dealing with an enemy practicality rather than sending love and light to them, it requires being in the churchyard and calling the dead as the bell strikes 12, it requires calling the Aulde Devil at the crossroads, but over all these things, it pushes a person above their own comfort zones via external surroundings.

Folk magic in practice can be very dogmatic too and may only indicate that certain plants/animals/stones are well suited for certain desires. You see, the new age practitioner may go with their heart and so may the traditional practitioner in certain respects however, the folk practitioner goes by what the spirits tell them. By what their allies and helpers may indicate what may be appropriate at that time.

Folk magic isn't clean, it isn't safe. It's dirty, it's messy, it has no morals, no ethics, it's pi***ng into bottles over glass and rusty nails,it's realistic, it doesn't just focus on one aspect of balance, it's being smeared in blood and dirt from head to toe, it's harvesting belladonna on a dark moon, not being afraid to use animal parts and flesh into your work, it's practicality in its simplest way. Rather than focusing what we can change within ourselves it's focusing on what we can changed around us. You want to establish a connection with the spirit world more? Go and harvest a toads leg and utilise that within a charm after all, the road is the leaped betwixt water and earth. Want more money? Well the mole burrows underground and knows the riches of the earth for his hands surely shall suffice well.

In regards to practice to each their own however, when I hear of new age practitioners and more modern styled witches trying to understand traditional witches and other folk practitioners, unless they practice it themselves or aren't used to this frame of practice, then it is hard to understand the same as a traditional witch trying not to understand a new age practice.

You see, the mind of the Folk magical practitioner is very much different from a new age practitioner.
