What is the Moroccan hammam?
It is a wet heat bath very different from the sauna which is dry heat based. It is also different from the Turkish bath, which is almost entirely steam. The Moroccan hammam heats thanks to a system of serpentine up to half height. Unlike the Turkish bath, it is humid but not filled with moisture.

To enjoy the benefits of the hammam, stay there for a minimum of 30 minutes and a maximum of 1 hour, to rest and lie on the floor or on the benches. During this time, a Kessala (name of the women practicing the scrubs in the hammams), applies the black soap on the whole body. Then, after a period of about fifteen minutes where rest is required, the Kessala will rinse the soap, using a glove Kessa, she will then rub the body to remove impurities.

Thanks to these different steps, it is a real deep exfoliation which, for the novices, is sometimes incredible so much the dead skin is detached and disincrusted. After a complete rinse, she applies Rhassoul, a clay soil from Morocco, to the body and hair. An excellent cleansing product, Rhassoul will definitely wash the body and make it soft and supple.

After this care, a nourishing massage allows to nourish the skin and the little extra that remains is the mint tea to finish this moment of an incomparable quietude.
