After more than 20 years working in the finance industry, I got laid off.
At the time, it felt scary. Uncertain. Uncomfortable.

But now… I see it clearly.
It was the pause I never gave myself permission to take.

For the last 8 years, hair and makeup was my side hustle.
Something I did on weekends. After work. Late nights.
Something I loved, but kept small.

Six months into unemployment, I can honestly say this:
I am happier than I’ve been in the last 20 years.

I finally slowed down.
I finally listened.
And I finally allowed myself to ask:
What do I actually want to do with my life?

Now I’m choosing creativity.
I’m choosing passion.
I’m choosing to pursue hair & makeup, not as a “side thing,” but as my next chapter.

This isn’t about quitting jobs overnight.
It’s about realizing that sometimes, what feels like an ending…
is actually an invitation to begin again.
