A Good night’s sleep is today’s luxury, a luxury no one should live without.

December invites us to slow down, evenings on the sofa wrapped in soft blankets, a cup of something warm in hand. You’d think all that cosiness would guarantee a good night’s sleep… and yet, it doesn’t always.

Many of us still toss and turn. Bedrooms can feel too warm, too cold...never quite right. Keeping the room cool is key for deep sleep, but there’s nothing worse than slipping into a cold bed.

As our bodies prepare for rest, our temperature naturally drops, only to rise again a few hours into the night. That’s why I love sleeping with a down duvet, layered with one or two woollen blankets on top. Easy to adjust, easy to un-layer, perfectly balanced.

And alongside my husband and our dog Lillebror, my all-time favourite winter bedtime companion is an old-school hot water bottle. Quiet, comforting, and endlessly reassuring. The simplest ritual, and still one of the best.

Why We Struggle to Sleep in New Places?
Have you ever found yourself in a beautiful hotel room or a friend’s guest bed - utterly exhausted after a long day of travel or adventure - and yet completely unable to fall asleep?

Just a couple of weeks ago, I spent four nights on the breathtaking Croatian coastline with one of my closest childhood friends. We stayed in her father-in-law’s lovely apartment, perched above the sea, with views of scattered islands and the most majestic, grounding mountains.

That first night, I was deeply tired from the journey, from swimming in the blue sea, from hours of chatting away with my friend; my body was begging for rest. And yet, my mind simply wouldn’t switch off.

It’s something I’ve experienced time and again, even in the most calming and luxurious hotels. No matter how safe, happy or content I feel, the first night always seems to hold me at arm’s length from sleep.

I love a Sunday with no plans. Just reading, long walks with our dachshund Lillebror, time with family and friends… and if I’m lucky, a little nap on the sofa with my silk sleep mask.

Like many of you, I truly love books.

I can spend hours wandering through bookstores—both here in Copenhagen and when I travel (as long as I can find books in English!). There’s something magical about the calm and quiet atmosphere, the sense of discovery, and the feeling that every shelf holds a hidden treasure.

My love of books may stem from my childhood. My granddad owned a printing house, and I spent many joyful afternoons there with him, my dad, my uncle, and my cousin, who all worked in the family business. They printed beautiful books, elegant letterhead, business cards, and so much more. It was a creative, inspiring environment, and whenever I needed a break, I would escape upstairs to my grandmother, who always had sweets and cake waiting for me.

Perhaps this is why books hold such a special place in my heart. Beyond their beauty, I cherish the hours spent getting lost in a novel or learning something new—especially about my passion: sleep.

So, when the time came to design new packaging for The Beauty Sleeper, it felt only natural to create a little box that resembles the cover of a book—crafted from environmentally friendly paper and natural materials.

On freezing cold days like today, I know exactly what I want—an early night, a hot water bottle, and the kind of deep, restorative sleep that makes everything feel better.

I always say that sleep is the ultimate beauty treatment, and sometimes, the smallest comforts make the biggest difference. If you’re feeling the cold, here’s my go-to bedtime routine for the cosiest night in:
