The sixth and final woman that we are celebrating for Women’s Week is Marguerite Gachet who is the inspiration for the Folie de Marguerite fragrance.

Marguerite was surrounded by masters painters since here birth since her father was an art lover. Marguerite wanted to break the glass ceiling and become a painter herself so she came up with a plan to leave for the United States of America, however, Vincent van Gogh enters her life and she falls in love with him. Although van Gogh is obsessed with his passion for painting, they have an affair which changes her mind to stay home, close to him. She was convinced that his love was real for her however, van Gogh’s obsession for painting intensified. Together they went through a spiral of hopes and deception that resulted in the painter’s su***de. Although some people dispute wether or not their love was real or just a fantasy in her mind, Marguerite’s intense love for him was truly real. It was true that she was his muse, with the “Marguerite Gachet in the Garden” painting as evidence.

The Folie de Marguerite fragrance is inspired by her father’s garden where van Gogh painted her full of tuberoses, irises and marigolds. The fragrance contains earthy and resinous flowers. Cedarwood and oud combined with elemi and myrrh implode into Impressionism.

Our fifth woman that we are celebrating for Women’s Week is Klavdia Novikova who is the inspiration for the Grâce de Klavdia.

This is the story of a beautiful love trying between Klavdia Novikova, Yasaburo Hachiya and his wife Hisako. After WWII, Russia and Japan went to war. Yasaburo was wrongly condemned to 10 years to the Soviet gulag for espionage where he befriended Kalvdia, another detainee. When they both finished their sentences, Yasaburo wasn’t able to return back to Japan and Klavdia’s husband had left her. Their friendship turned into love so they married and lived together for 37 years. The 90’s collapse of the USSR changed their lives when Yasaburo was put in contact with his brother. His wife Hisako was still alive and had been loyally waiting for him for 51 years with their daughters in Japan! Yasaburo was confused, so Klavdia made a decision for him. She spent their savings on a plane ticket, a passport renewal and divorced him. After Yasaburo’s return to Japan, they talked on the phone every Saturday, even sometimes with Hisako who was grateful to Klavdia. Klavdia has since become a symbol of love and sacrifice in Japan.

The Grâce de Klavdia fragrance has a fresh start of lavender, lime, and bergamot. The contrast is given by the balmy and woody base of Klavdia and her relationship with the Japanese culture; a warm hug of grey amber, sandalwood and patchouli. Lastly, the masculine character is emphasized by spices and smoke; to***co, mace, and pink peppercorns.
