As an Accountant – Commercial & Financial Operations at Colgate-Palmolive Fiji, you will play a dual role that blends traditional financial controllership with strategic commercial business partnering. 📊💼 You will ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial records while providing actionable insights that support business growth across the Pacific Islands. 🏝️✨

Key Responsibilities 🔑
1. Commercial Business Partnering 📈
Margin & Profitability Analysis: Review overall business margins and product profitability to identify areas for revenue enhancement or cost reduction. 💰📉

Pricing & Trade Spend Management: Analyze and process customer discounts. Collaborate closely with the Customer Development Team (CDT) to review trade spend and ensure optimal resource allocation. 🏷️🎯

Budgeting & Forecasting: Actively participate in the preparation of annual budgets and Latest Estimates. Maintain financial data within budgeting tools and conduct detailed variance analysis. 📅🔍

Accounts Receivable & Credit Control: Monitor debtor ageing reports to ensure timely collections and maintain healthy cash flow. Perform comprehensive credit checks and validate credit management processes. 💵💳

Duty Drawback Coordination: Compile necessary documentation for export duty drawbacks and liaise with relevant customs authorities to ensure timely processing. 📑🛃

2. Core Financial Operations ⚙️
Month-End Close & General Ledger: Execute monthly closing processes in the ERP system (SAP), including the preparation and posting of journal entries such as accruals and prepayments. 🗓️💻

Account Reconciliations: Perform regular and accurate balance sheet account reconciliations, promptly investigating and resolving any discrepancies. ⚖️️🔍

Accounts Payable Management: Oversee the invoice processing workflow, verifying and coding invoices accurately. Prepare and execute vendor payments in compliance with company terms and policies. 🧾💸

Compliance & Audit Support: Ensure all financial activities strictly adhere to Colgate’s Global Financial Policies, US GAAP, and SOX control requirements. Act as a key contact and provide support to internal and external auditors during reviews. 🛡️📋

Inventory & Fixed Assets: Collaborate with the Supply Chain team on inventory reviews, assist with fixed asset monitoring, and perform intercompany reconciliations. 📦🏗️

Master Data Management: Manage the setup and modification of both Customer and Vendor Master Data, coordinating effectively with regional hubs. 📂🌐

Qualifications & Requirements 🎓
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field. Progress towards a professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, CA) is highly regarded. 🎓📜

Experience: A solid foundation in accounting principles with demonstrated experience in general ledger management, month-end close processes, and financial analysis. Experience in a blended commercial and core accounting role is a plus. 💼🕒

Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP S/4HANA experience is a strong advantage) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. 💻🖥️

Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable commercial insights to cross-functional teams. 📊🔎

You will support the Finance function across a range of activities, with responsibilities expanding as you grow:

📊 Financial Operations & Reporting
⚙️ Support the day-to-day running of the finance function.

🗓️ Assist with monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reporting (US GAAP & local requirements).

📑 Help prepare monthly management accounts, including identifying key variances and exceptions.

🔍 Support customer sales and profitability analysis to help drive business decisions.

💳 Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable / Fixed Assets
📥 Lead or support Accounts Payable activities (invoice processing, supplier reconciliations, payments).

📤 Lead or support Accounts Receivable activities (customer invoicing, collections, reconciliations).

⚖️ Compliance, Tax & Governance
