Nail Style - Aberdeen

Hi everybody, our dog, Mitt, was brutally mauled by a beige staffordshire bull terrier right outside of Nailstyle on Friday 6th July at around 6:05pm.

It was a hot day and we had the front door opened. As usual Mitt was sitting in the shop where he enjoys watching cars and people walking past- in full view and careful supervision of all staff. This was when a white man, wearing a white T-shirt walking his dog on a metal lead attacked our dog. Mitt was mauled and his entire left front leg and chest area ravaged. It took 4 people (3 grown men) several attempts to try to get the dog to let go, as the owner could not command his dog to stop.

If you have ever visited our shop you would all know that our dog is a very friendly small, brown and white sh*tzu who loves to greet customers and their children. He is friendly, gentle-natured and have never shown aggression towards anyone or animal. For this reason people love seeing him, and many have requested to have him at the property.

If anybody happened to have walked past or witnessed what had happened, please get in contact with us. We have contacted the police and currently need as much information as possible to help identify the man.

After what had happened the man did not offer any help but instead hurried away, shouting nasty remarks and blaming us for having our “dog there in the first place”, even though we were on private property where we could do as we wish.
After Mitt was rushed to the emergency vet, the man decided to come back. He stood outside the shop and continued his remarks.

We are all dog lovers here and understands that Staffordshire bull terriers have, in the past, received a bad reputation. We are firm believers that it is never the breed of dog who behaves aggressively but instead the owners and in this case, someone who had no control over his pet. This person should not be allowed to care for animals especially those with potential to hurt or harm others.
