This is well worth a read, pelvic asymmetry is something saddle fitters are dealing with on a daily basis, it is a major cause of saddle slip this very well informed post from gives a great insight in to what’s going on under the skin, the SI joint is not like other joints so this is something that fascinated me when attending Becks Nairn dissection.

Shut Up and Ride Podcast Another fab pod from Shut Up and Ride Podcast 🎧

Everyone NEEDS to listen to this — especially if you know any women, regardless of age. It’s not horse-related at all, but I’m sure the issues discussed affect everyone in one way or another.

These podcasts are brilliant for getting me through my long drives, but this episode is an absolute must-listen — honest, eye-opening, and so important.

Give it a listen if you get the chance!

Also lovely to hear my dear friend Steph from Freedom Saddlery who has done a lot of research in to this matter, helping woman riders everywhere 💕 well done Steph for making us all aware and sharing your personal experiences.

“Eat fruit and pray.”

Yes. That was actual advice given to a woman struggling with hormone symptoms.

This week on Shut Up and Ride, we’re joined by Dr Louise Newson to talk about what’s really going on with women’s hormones — from PMDD to contraception, perimenopause and menopause.

We cover:
• The mental health impact of hormone imbalance
• Why testosterone is so hard for women to access
• How to get your GP to actually listen
• The real health benefits of proper treatment

Jenny shares parts of her own journey in the hope it helps other women feel less alone.

And Ben steps in for the men — because this isn’t just a women’s issue. It’s a family issue.

This episode is powerful, eye-opening and one every woman (and man) needs to hear.

Nominate now for Saddle Fitter of the Year

Good saddle fitting can make a huge difference to a horse’s comfort, way of going, and long-term soundness. The best saddle fitters take their time, explain what they’re seeing, and put the horse first,
not the sale.

This award is about recognising saddle fitters who work to high standards. The professionals who understand biomechanics, consider the horse’s shape and movement, and support both horse and rider with honest, knowledgeable advice.

Whether they work independently, run a small one-person business, or are part of a larger business, these fitters play a vital role in equine welfare and performance.

If you know a saddle fitter who stands out for their skill, integrity, and care, someone you trust to do what’s right for the horse, we’d love to hear about them.

I’ve just finished submitting my nominations for the Equestrian Business Awards 🐎

Farrier
Physio
Tech
Dentist
Event venue

There are around 20 different categories, and it’s a lovely reminder of just how many hardworking professionals keep our horses comfortable, sound, and cared for.

Recognition like this genuinely means a lot — especially after the weather we’ve all battled through so far this year 🥶 Mud, ice, frozen taps… and still turning up for the horses.

If you haven’t nominated yet, take a few minutes to support the people who support you and your horses — it really does make a difference ❤️

Equine Therapist of the Year sponsored by Equicantis

Behind many happy, comfortable horses is a skilled equine therapist quietly doing the work, improving movement, supporting recovery, and helping horses feel and perform at their best.

This award is about recognising those equine therapists who put horse welfare first. They take the time to really understand each horse, work alongside vets and owners, and make a genuine difference through their hands-on care.

Whether they work independently, run a one-person practice, or support yards and riding schools across the country, equine therapists play a vital role in keeping horses healthy and comfortable.

If you know an equine therapist who goes above and beyond, someone you trust with your horse, who explains what they’re doing and why, and who truly cares, we’d love to hear about them.
