🌸🌳🌸Make time to be in nature.

🌸🌳🌸Being outdoors can significantly boost both physical and mental health. Fresh air in green spaces often contains fewer pollutants than indoor environments, reducing respiratory risks and improving breathing.

🌸🌳🌸Full-spectrum light helps to set our circadian rhythm (our biological 24-hour clock). Aim for a 20-minute walk five times a week within two hours of waking. Additionally, sunlight exposure promotes vitamin D production, which strengthens bones and supports immune function.

🌸🌳🌸Forest environments release phytoncides, natural compounds that enhance white blood cell activity, helping the body fight infections and seek out tumour cells.

🌸🌳🌸Time spent outdoors reduces stress by lowering cortisol levels, heart rate, and blood pressure, activating the parasympathetic nervous system for relaxation.

🌸🌳🌸Even brief exposure - just five minutes - can regulate the sympathetic nervous system, providing immediate stress relief. Being in nature enhances cognitive function, including attention, memory, and creativity.

🌸🌳🌸Natural environments provide restorative experiences that replenish focus and reduce mental fatigue caused by overstimulation in urban settings.

🌸🌳🌸Humans are driven to seek connections with nature. This biological need is hardwired into our evolution, making natural environments inherently calming and restorative.

🌸🌳🌸Just being around flowers can trigger positive psychological and physiological health benefits, according to scientists. The scent of flowers, herbs and trees can also have a positive effect on the mind and body.

🌸🌳🌸Fascinatingly, one study found the smell of roses positively influenced driving behaviours, with participants exposed to the smell recording the lowest average driving speeds.

🌸🌳🌸So, make time for nature. After all, it is free.

Another wonderful testimonial from Caroline, who came in for a good old bit of TLC recently... 🙌🙌🙌

✨It is a pleasure and a privilege to minister a therapeutic massage to another individual.

✨And very recently, I was reminded just how powerful a healing tool it is, particularly when combined with essential oils.

✨I qualified as an aromatherapist more than three decades ago, and it has never ceased to amaze me just how effective an aromatherapy massage can be in bringing about all kinds of positive benefits for my clients.

✨I had two particularly rewarding cases last week, both with significant results from just one 60-minute treatment with a bespoke blend of pure essential oils.

✨After only sleeping for three hours per night after a particularly stressful three weeks, busy mum of two young boys, Mrs C was delighted to report she had slept right through on the night of the treatment.

✨On the same day, I saw an old client who, following a discectomy [spinal surgery to remedy a slipped disc] six years previously, had relied on Ibruprofen to get through the day.

✨Every day, she woke up in discomfort, and prolonged periods sitting at her office desk exacerbated symptoms.

✨Following her treatment, she was positively thrilled to report waking up with no aches and pain. Three days later, she was still pain-free and not taking pain relief.

✨”All my aches and pains have melted away,”she said. “Honestly, it’s like a miracle.”

I put this down to the magic of massage... 💫

🌈I offer treatments Thursday to Saturday at 37 High Street, Alcester, so please get in touch if you want to find out how I can help you.🌈

Orange-colored fruits and vegetables are rich in phytonutrients or phytochemicals that provide various health benefits. 🥕🍊🍑

They give foods their taste, colour, and aroma. 🧡🔥🧡

Here are some key phytonutrients found in these foods:

✨Beta-carotene - Converts to vitamin A in the body, essential for healthy vision and cell growth.
✨Lutein and zeaxanthin - Antioxidants that protect the eyes from damage and reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration.
✨Curcuminoids - Known for their anti-inflammatory properties and potential to reduce the risk of chronic diseases.
✨Naringin - A flavonoid found in citrus fruits that supports cardiovascular health with its antioxidant effects.

Incorporating a variety of orange fruits and vegetables into your diet can help you achieve a balanced intake of these phytonutrients, contributing to overall health and wellbeing. 🌈

☀️Are you getting some vitamin D today?

☀️It is obviously important not to burn, but also equally vital for optimal health to top up your vitamin D levels by exposing your skin to sunlight (UVB).

☀️Exposing at least 50% of your skin for about 25 minutes is recommended, but take care during the hottest part of the day. This is 11am to 3pm according to the Met Office and particularly worth noting during this heatwave.

☀️About 40% of Brits (19-64 years old) emerge out of winter deficient, which can have a massive impact on health outcomes.

☀️Vitamin D plays a key role in our immune system – it tells it how to behave – so a deficiency is associated with autoimmune conditions such as inflammatory bowel diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, and MS.

☀️It plays a major role in bone health (remember the childhood deficiency condition, Rickets), mood, memory, fatigue, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, fertility, and pregnancy.

☀️Conventional medicine considers levels over 50 nmol/L sufficient and under 25 nmol/L deficient. I’d suggest over 80 nmol/L is optimal.

☀️NHS guidelines recommend all adults supplement with 400 IU or 10 micrograms per day, whatever the season.

☀️If you have darker skin tones, an older person or consciously avoid the sun during summer months then you are at higher risk of deficiency.
