Adverse outcomes in plastic surgery do not automatically imply negligence.

This is a key distinction in medico-legal practice, particularly for instructing solicitors, clinicians involved in defendant work, and patients seeking clarity around how cases are assessed.

I recently discussed my role as a plastic surgeon acting as an expert witness, focusing on how the court evaluates clinical decisions—not on whether the outcome was ideal, but whether the standard of care was met throughout the patient journey.

This includes:• Assessment• Informed consent• Surgical technique• Post-operative management

Understanding this framework is essential when interpreting complications, outcomes, and allegations of negligence.

Following years of weight fluctuation, the changes took a toll on my breasts. I had considered this procedure for many years, but the decision was finally made this year. I wish I had done it sooner.
I was nervous about having surgery for the first time, after several consultations with Mr Netri and discussions with the team they put me at ease. I asked for natural-looking, perkier breasts and received exactly that. The biggest concern was an unnatural appearance after surgery, as well as scarring and recovery.
My results are natural-looking breasts, I feel more confident, I am so happy with the results. Healing is going well, with scars fading each week. The recovery requires limiting activity for at least 6 weeks, but that time flies by I’m now back at the gym and doing previous activities.
If you are considering this procedure, book a consultation. It is a decision that you will not regret it.
I highly recommend Mr Netri and the team for this procedure the pre and post care has been excellent - Thank you

“In the realm of medical negligence litigation, the expertise of a plastic surgery expert witness is invaluable. By meticulously reviewing medical records, conducting independent evaluations, and offering impartial insights, we strive to unravel the complexities of each case. Our testimony serves to elucidate medical standards, identify deviations from best practices, and provide clarity to legal proceedings.

While the role of a plastic surgery expert witness is inherently rewarding, it’s not devoid of challenges. Navigating the intricacies of legal proceedings, maintaining impartiality amidst adversarial environments, and effectively communicating complex medical concepts to a non-medical audience require finesse and expertise. Additionally, staying abreast of evolving medical practices and legal precedents is essential to uphold the integrity of our testimony.

In the realm of medical negligence litigation, the expertise of a plastic surgery expert witness serves as a beacon of clarity amidst legal complexities. From scrutinizing surgical techniques to assessing post-operative complications, our role is instrumental in dispensing justice and providing closure to aggrieved parties. Why We Don’t Use MIA (Motiva Implant Assistance) and Motiva®️ Preserve in Our Clinic

Lately, there’s been a lot of hype around MIA and the Motiva®️ Preserve system in the world of breast augmentation. While I appreciate the innovation and interest in evolving surgical techniques, in my professional opinion, this is more of a marketing novelty than a true revolution in breast surgery. Here’s why we’ve chosen not to adopt it in our practice:

🔍 Patient Selection is Critical
Not every patient is a good candidate for this approach. MIA is designed for a very specific subset—typically those seeking small to medium-sized implants and uncomplicated procedures. This makes it quite limited in its application.

📏 Implant Placement Constraints
The technique is designed for subglandular placement only. With smooth implants, this comes with an increased risk of displacement and rippling, especially in slimmer patients with minimal tissue coverage.

📐 Implant Shape and Result
The implants used are similar to anatomical shapes—offering less upper pole fullness and cleavage. For many patients seeking a fuller or more rounded result, this simply doesn’t meet the aesthetic goals.

🔧 Lack of Surgical Flexibility
The system used to “preserve” anatomical structures limits the surgeon’s ability to tailor the pocket dissection. In more complex or revision cases, where bespoke surgical planning is crucial, this can be a major drawback.

✂️ Incision Size – Misleading Benefit
While smaller incisions are often touted, the reality is that with meticulous technique, traditional surgery already allows for very short, well-hidden scars in the breast crease. Precision—not technology—is what gives you great results.

💉 Local Anaesthesia is Nothing New
Using local anaesthetic for small implants over the muscle is already a well-established technique in many clinics worldwide. This is not a groundbreaking development.

🚫 Axillary Scar – Not Ideal
The underarm incision (axillary approach) is also not new. While some promote it as a “scarless” option, it leaves a visible mark when the arms are raised and carries a higher risk of contamination.

🏥 Office Procedure – Not Quite
While marketed as an “office procedure,” it still requires a sterile surgical setting. Light sedation often necessitates the presence of an anaesthetist to ensure comfort and safety—just like traditional day-case augmentation.

⏱️ Recovery Time – No Significant Difference
Recovery is comparable to the traditional technique. In fact, modern breast augmentation already offers quick recovery and same-day discharge for most patients.

In summary, while MIA and Motiva®️ Preserve may appeal to some as new and trendy, the real-world advantages are limited. At this stage, it feels more like a marketing tool than a genuine advancement in surgical outcomes.

As always, the best results come from thorough consultation, careful planning, and a technique tailored to you—not a one-size-fits-all system.
