Erythema in simple terms is the reddening of the skin. It occurs as a result of blood vessels dilating, this in turn increases the blood flow🩸

The presence of erythema during massage is a really good sign! This increase of blood flow to the muscles and soft tissue being massaged will aid the flushing of toxins which are released during treatment. Simultaneously, fresh oxygenated blood containing repairing nutrients and components such as collagen rush in to aid recovery and repair soft tissue.

This is especially apparent in a deep tissue massage which really targets the deeper layers of muscle and fascia. As well as a massage being a nice luxury to have, it is equally an important maintenance treatment to keep you feeling your best✨
