The final technique is the Five Senses (also known as the 5,4,3,2,1 Meditation) and is a nice one to do at home during study leave to help refocus.

Take time to notice 5 things you can see from where you are.
What 4 things can you touch - what do they feel like, what sensations do you experience?
What 3 things can you hear?
Two things you can smell; can you recognise them?
One thing you can taste - perhaps you can still taste the last thing you ate or drank?

This only takes a few minutes but is an effective grounding technique for anxious times.

With the exams season upon us, I thought it might be helpful to once again share some breathing techniques.
I've selected ones that don't require resources and can be practiced discreetly, making them ideal before an exam, even when surrounded by other people.
