I meet lots of people whilst travelling. When I was on my Ecuador and Galapagos trip I met Gregg, he’s Australian and he lives and works in the Cook Islands. Sounds cool but I didn’t actually know where they were or what they were about. At the end of that trip he said to the group, “if you’re ever in the Cook Islands let me know”.
Well we all know that Rox doesn’t need telling twice 😂 I changed my plans around to squeeze in a trip to Aitutaki. Not actually knowing what I’d booked or where Gregg worked.
Jeez Louise 😳 what a surprise I had when I turned up! This place is paradise! What an amazing island, today we went snorkelling and visited some of the uninhabited islands. I still can’t believe my eyes. It’s just incredibly beautiful. I’m so glad I came here.

My first day in New Zealand.
After 4 flights and almost 24hours of travelling I thought it would be a great idea to climb a mountain.
There was very little visibility and lots of wind. Luckily I had my own Bear Grylls with me to set up our camp. It was cold but worth it for the views and the sunrise.
Finished off with a trip to the hot pools. Not a bad first day 🥰

My time in the Galapagos has come to an end. I had the best week, we saw so much wildlife and were able to get quite close. Even swam with sea lions and reef sharks. One of the best experiences of my life.

What a day! I say this all the time but this was my favourite day of the trip so far.
We went up in the mountains to a local community where we prepared and cooked lunch, everything was wrapped in cabbage leaves and it is then placed on very hot stones in a hole in the ground and covered with soil. It’s left for two hours and then we took it out and unwrapped it all. It was delicious and so tasty.
Whilst lunch was cooking we went to a local craftsman and decorated our own ceramic ornaments.
After lunch we met our host family. Our mama is named Lucia, she has 3 beautiful sons, her husband works away in Quito so she runs the household and hosts guests while he’s away.
We went for a walk, prepared dinner- I have never de-corned a corn before 😂 after we had cooked dinner, Lucia dressed us in traditional outfits. This was my favourite part 🥰
Such a wholesome experience.
