Before I joined Mentor Barber Academy I was struggling with finding a career that I wanted to proceed in as I was finished with school I also struggled with confidence such as talking to new people and meeting new people.

I saw mentor on instagram and got recommended by some past students to try it out and seeing their progression and skill set they had learned in mentor made me want to be apart and learn.

Mentor has helped me grow as a barber taught me fully how to cut hair it has also helped me grow as a person and build my confidence in the little things such as a conversation with someone I have never met before.

In mentor barbering academy I have been able to grow my clientele cut my own family’s hair which was a big thing for me to do and helped me with my scissor work through the levels such as level 2 and level 3
It also gave me the opportunity to be a part of Dean Samuel’s where I’m continuing to grow.

Before joining Mentor, I had no experience with barbering and hadn’t even considered it as a career. I wasn’t lacking confidence—I just didn’t have a clear direction. I joined the Full Circle program to learn something new, and that choice opened a whole new path for me.

A conversation with someone close made me consider barbering for the first time. They knew someone who went through Mentor and had a great experience. That pushed me to look into it seriously—it just felt like the right move.

Mentor gave me real hands-on training and built my confidence with clients. But it also helped me grow personally—teaching me professionalism, communication, and focus. It made me see barbering as a long-term career.

I started working in a barbershop and even set up a small space at home for clients. I’ve built confidence, developed my own style, and connected with people in the industry. It’s been a huge step forward.

I didn’t have much confidence in myself, stuck in jobs I wasn’t happy doing, and just needed a change, turned out to be a class and love it now.

Speaking to close friends about what I wanted to do for a career, always thought about barbering but never wanted to go to tech to do so, then a friend was telling me he was starting mentor also!

Do it, you’ll not regret it, such a fun and eye opening experience, defo glad I acc went for it and you can’t just walk it, you will need to give it your all and you will see the results.
