Joy House Hair My hairdressing journey began 14 years ago with a Saturday job in Ian McCullough's Hair Design on the Holywood road in East Belfast.

When I look back, I was so fortunate to meet Ian, a beyond talented hairdresser who invested and believed in me, he trained me in the salon as I spent increasingly more time there after school and during the holidays. For me, hairdressing is an artistic expression, a way to capture people's personalities and expressions. Despite the fact that I have always been creative, studying Fine Art to A lev

el standard, I doubted whether hairdressing was for me. Given my love for people, I went on to study Psychology and Social Work at Queens University Belfast whilst continuing hairdressing for friends and family. Now, with a young family, I have returned to hairdressing, having set up Joy House Hair as a business in January 15, working from home, I now have an extensive client base across a salon setting in Belfast and mobile hairdressing service in Carrickfergus. I love the opportunity that hairdressing gives to interact with others. As much as I am passionate about the hair, I am even more so for the person. My aim is to provide a professional service, and to make you feel comfortable, valued and spoilt. My heart is to make a small income from my hairdressing business and then to use the extra to bless others, be it through cash donation, practical help or by offering free or discounted hair treatments. Through Joy House Hair, you can make a difference, it feels good to be spoilt but even better to spoil. I have donated to several charities in the past number of years, including awareNI, Caring Matters Now and the Holywood Care Home Residents Social Fund. Caring Matters Now is a charity close to my heart as my son has a rare skin condition for which they are raising awareness and funds in hope to find a cure. The flexibility of my work has also enabled me to give my time and to volunteer for charities- the most recent being as Regional Support contact for CMN in Northern Ireland, but also for church and in a practical way for friends and family in need. The basic line of hair colours I offer are coconut oil based, making them kinder to your hair and longer lasting. However I also offer hair treatments using an organic range which is
gentle in fragrance,
PPD and ammonia free,
Covers greys,
Lightens hair,
Is neutral in PH,

This interest was inspired by my friend who was exploring organic alternatives throughout her mother's cancer treatment. There is a wide range of colour available- permanent or tone on tone. The tone on tone colours are Slicone free,
Paraben free,
Sles/sls free

Fashion colours and conditioning colour refresh treatments are also available. I hope this short intro has captured my heart for yours! Please don't hesitate to give me a shout for more info!

‼️Update on Suspended hairdressing pot‼️

Now that I am out of work I am going to ensure this money is used for children (not my own!) who need a bit of TLC over summer.

I will use it in the most charitable way possible knowing that my clients have seen my heart and supported me in this way!

Hopefully by now I have made it through most of my client base, (I've been working through the waiting list I have in place for once things "go back to normal.")

During this time I've been reflecting, as I'm sure a lot of you have been too, what will our "new normal" look like?
How feasible is it to keep things the same with the change that is happening around us?
But also on deeper things, does my every day really reflect my passion?

Most of you will know my background, I'm an accidental hairdresser... trained in Social Work and enjoying the creativity, flexibility and personable side of 'doing hair.'

My passion has always been people, but first and foremost I have always wanted to be a Mum.
With the challenges ahead in terms of phasing the kids back to school, I have decided that I am going to take a bit of a break, call it a career break if you like! To be available for the kids, and to reflect upon what's next for me, whether that is hair or not!

I am so thankful for the kindness I have received as I have let you all know. Why are endings so difficult?!

Thank you for every way that you have supported, not only through my business, but personally in the last 5 years! I am truly appreciative for all of the time we have shared together.

Here's to the next chapter!😘
