Inspections and maintenance should be carried out on all PPE by a competent person. Did you know that Portwest safety harnesses have an inspection cover for protection of the product label on their harnesses ensuring this id tag remains completely legible as it provides a crucial piece of information about the item?
As members of NISG - Northern Ireland Safety Group we have been asked to help share the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland request for help in profiling the chemical landscape in NI. Any of our customers interested in doing the survey ( which can be anonymous) use the link below.

Sometimes an opportunity comes along to raise awareness for a charity and help get their message out a little further. We recently had the opportunity to work with NISG - Northern Ireland Safety Group and the Building Mental Health Alliance in their service signposting by supplying stickers on hard hats that showed a QR code that would give swift access to a number of charities including https://www.facebook.com/WeAreLighthouseCharity who do amazing work with the construction industry. All we are doing is putting access to information in front of someone who might just need it - we don't see any information about who uses the service but we really hope that if you do need it, please use it!

The weather is sooo miserable today - but it was in 2014 as well!! This is a repost of a post we put up July 9 years ago. The weather may still have the ability to be disappointing from time to time, but at least you can still get good value wet weather gear from us!😏 ☔️ or ⛱ ?
July in Northern Ireland ! Let us know if you found the sun anywhere this month .
We know you put a lot of effort into purchasing your colleagues hi visibility workwear that is affordable for you, comfortable for them but primarily keeping them safe in their daily work.
As a long established company in the PPE and uniform industry we pride ourselves on supplying quality hi viz garments supplied through reputable manufacturers that can help you tick all those boxes.
A Hi Viz garment needs to comply with ISO20471 for luminance and chromaticity throughout its lifespan but without regular testing how do you know if it’s still within required parameters that maintain its compliance?
We now offer a new “Sun-Safe Indicator” from MiRiCal Emblems Ltd. Applied to any purchased hi viz garments it will fade at the same rate as the fabric when exposed to sunlight/UV, and through a clever design indicate when its time for a new garment.

This week is Mental Health Awareness week. Everyone struggles at sometime. Anyone can reach out at any time. Don't put off checking in with family, friends, work colleagues. Through our membership of NISG - Northern Ireland Safety Group, we have been involved with a project spearheaded by Building Mental Health Alliance and are helping distribute helmet stickers with a QR code that goes directly through to 3 charities that can help. One of these is Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity who are there to support specifically construction workers and their families.
Just click the QR code and get the help for yourself or someone else. It's confidential - we don't see any details of who looks at this - we just want you to be OK.
On World Book day a catalogue is still a book, right? This one is worth a read any day! If you would like your own copy just let us know!

As members of Northern Ireland Safety Group for many years, we benefit from a vast amount of industry relevant news and insights shared through this fantastic unit. Recently we became aware of an initiative that the NISG is running for the construction industry in conjunction with Building Mental Health Alliance.
They have created one place with direct access to 3 different mental health helplines in Northern Ireland that can offer immediate support for those in need. The scheme involves the Samaritans, Lifeline and the Lighthouse Club which is a charity dedicated to specifically working with the construction industry.
Larger construction firms may have the advantage of being able to incorporate staff training for topics such as mental wellbeing and where to get help, and many companies are now embracing the idea of a mental first aider, who can make available useful resources to their colleagues, but it can feel harder for the smaller business or sole traders to feel as supported. Stresses for whatever reason – financial, workload, health, family issues - can be overwhelming but there is help out there.
At N I Protective Clothing Co we are a small family run business, we know what it’s like to wear many hats at the same time – and feel the pressure of that. To help do our bit for the construction industry, we have offered to supply the project’s stickers with our safety helmets. These carry a QR code which when scanned will take you straight to the webpage which is hyperlinked to the three helplines. No information is made available to us in any way! Our only concern is to try and distribute the information so that the help is there for you or a colleague who needs it.
Please scan this QR code and pass it on to anyone who you think needs, or knows, someone who it would benefit. Remember, no one needs to feel alone, and you are not the first to go through this.
