This finally arrived today

DOB - 24.04.70.

Never in a million years did I imagine that, at this age and someone who genuinely does not like studying, I’d be back at university studying to become an Independent Nurse Prescriber.

Then my results came through. I saw a “D” and my heart sank. I was convinced I’d failed… until I realised the D stood for Distinction! At Master’s level 😮

Looking back, I still can’t quite believe it.

Balancing studying with my NHS role, growing IB Aesthetic Nurse and everyday life wasn’t always easy, but it reminded me that you’re never too old to learn, never too old to challenge yourself and never too old to surprise yourself.

If you’re thinking about taking a course, changing direction or pushing yourself out of your comfort zone, don’t let your age be the thing that holds you back.

I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who supported me along the way, and to everyone who continues to trust me with their care. It means more than you know. 🤍

I’ve been working behind the scenes on something I’m really excited to share.

This August, I’ll be introducing more educational content around some of my favourite treatments, including:

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be explaining what each treatment does, who it’s suitable for, and how I decide which option is right for each patient.

The sun shining really does elevate your mood instantly - and I hope you are all managing to enjoy the sunshine and some much needed vitamin D!

Sun protection is an absolute MUST everyday - but particularly during the warmer months.
When it comes to sun damage, prevention is absolutely better than cure.

My top tips ⬇️

🧴 SPF daily - and re-apply when neccesary
💧 Hydrate - ensure you are drinking a minimum of 2 litres of water daily
⏰ Avoid peak sun exposure hours to minimise sun damage

If you have sun damage, pigmentation or premature ageing - I’m on hand to help and offer a number of treatment pathways to prevent, treat and correct.

I thought it was time to reintroduce myself, grateful to have lots of new followers!

I’m Isabel, the nurse behind IB Aesthetic Nurse.

I’ve been a Registered Nurse for over 30 years and continue to work as a Health Visitor alongside my aesthetics practice. I’m also an Independent Nurse Prescriber, seeing patients from HIS-regulated clinics in Bellshill and Hamilton.

People often ask if I plan to leave the NHS.

The answer is no.

Working in the NHS reminds me every day that good care starts with listening. Every person is different, every story is different, and there is rarely a one-size-fits-all answer.

That’s something I carry into every aesthetics consultation.

Nobody needs aesthetic treatments. They’re a personal choice. My role isn’t to convince anyone to have treatment—it’s to help you understand your options, answer your questions honestly, and recommend what I genuinely believe is right for you.

Sometimes that’s treatment.
Sometimes it’s waiting.
Sometimes it’s deciding that no treatment is needed at all.

That’s the kind of aesthetic practitioner I want to be.
