What is “medical-grade” skincare? 🖤
Good question! You could be forgiven for thinking this means it’s dermatologist approved, has high concentration of active ingredients, or that it’s got some kind of super-technology. In reality, “medical-grade” is nothing but a marketing term designed to make you part with more of your hard earned cash.

How does this differ from prescription skincare? 🖤
Prescription skincare care such as tretinoin, finacea (15% Azelaic acid), ivermectin, hydroquinone and metronidazole need to be prescribed to you by a suitably qualified health professional. These are potent active ingredients that can have side effects and thus, must be overseen by the prescriber.
Examples of ways to access this kind of skincare are through brands like .skin and through your dermatologist/GP.

Do I need to spend a lot of money to get results? 🖤
In short, no! There are many super affordable brands that have highly effective products. Examples are , & . K-beauty tends to also be more cost effective than a lot of western brands, and often contains more advanced technology.

TL;DR
“Medical-grade” is a marketing term and these products are no different to others you can buy in for half the price - if not less.

Hey guys! Sorry for the radio silence recently.
I’ve had quite a few life changes in the past year and I’ve abandoned my medical aesthetics practice until I can give it my full attention again.

In the meantime, I will be changing the account to 🖤 I will be doing some educational content and reviews around skin care. We’ll do some skin care myth busting, look at some of the science behind how products work to help you choose effective products for you skin type, and I’ll also provide some skin care recommendations about products I love!

I used to find that patients would come to me looking for aesthetic work but that they didn’t have an established skin routine. Having a good skin routine provides a good base for your medical aesthetic treatments, maximising their efficacy and giving you more bang for your buck.

This gorgeous girl presented with migrated/overfilled, uneven lips that she wanted to correct prior to her graduation. The migration of the old filler was also causing a deep crease along the left Nasolabial fold.
I advised a full dissolve rather than adding more filler that would further contribute to the problem.
We patch tested and dissolved the old filler with hylase, then did a refill 2 weeks later and she’s all ready for graduation! 👩🏼‍🎓
