LASER EXPLAINED ✨
From a PMU artist with 14 years of experience and a passion for pigment science.
This case is on a client who had a dark blonde pigment mix for darker pigment mixes they usually remove easier
From dark & ashy ➡️ red ➡️ yellow in just 2 sessions 👇🏼
These brows are freshly treated, so you can still see a little frosting immediately after session #2.
Once the brows have healed at the yellow stage, the next step depends on the result you’re aiming for:
✨ Option 1: Saline removal to help lift the remaining yellow pigment.
✨ Option 2: If the yellow is minimal and you’re happy with it, we can often go straight in with a beautiful new set of brows.
💡 Want to reduce the chance of a strong yellow stage?
For many clients, especially blondes I often recommend starting with 2 saline removal sessions before moving onto laser. Lighter PMU pigments usually contain a higher proportion of yellow pigment, so this approach can create a smoother removal journey.
Here’s the science 👇🏼
PMU pigments are made up of a blend of different coloured pigments.
⚫️ Laser is most effective at targeting black pigment.
🔴 It can also break down many red/orange pigments.
🟡 Yellow is much more resistant to laser, which is why it’s often the last colour left behind.
As the darker pigments are removed, the underlying warmer tones become more visible, this is why brows often transition from black ➡️ red ➡️ yellow during the removal process.
Every set of brows is different, and your removal journey will depend on the pigment used, previous treatments, your skin, and your end goal. That’s why an experienced consultation is so important ✨

Old PMU brows looking blocky, ashy, or the strokes have started to blur or migrate, don’t rush into a cover-up which won’t fix any of horse issues 👎🏻
Here’s what I’d do instead 👇🏼
Book a consultation to decide what route you want: complete removal or remove & redo.
The next step is lifting as much of the old pigment as possible. I’m finding laser is the quickest, most effective way of doing this. Then once we’ve removed enough, we can think about redoing.
Think of it like this… beautiful new brows need a good foundation. If the base isn’t right, your new work will never heal as crisp or as natural as it would on fresh skin. Those realistic hair strokes simply won’t show as clearly over old, saturated pigment. ✨
That’s exactly why I now refer clients with old PMU showing these issues for laser removal before creating their new brows. The results are honestly so worth it 🙌🏽
My laser offer is now on for 👇🏼
⚡️ Single laser sessions – use code REMOVAL30
⚡️ Laser package – use code LASER35
You won’t believe how natural you can look again once the old works gone 💖
