π Sometimes the smallest questions open the biggest conversations.
My new addition to our hand massage mornings at the parish centre was the Mindful Talk Cards this week, placed on the table.
A gentle invitation..and suddenly stories appear that might otherwise have stayed tucked away.
One of the cards asked
β¨ What is one thing you love doing that makes you the happiest?
The lovely lady, who drew this question sitting opposite me smiled and answered immediately
"Dancing."
She is 99 years old.
This week, she is celebrating one of her friend's 100th birthday.
And she still dances.
Honestly, I think that may be one of my favourite answers I've ever heard, because perhaps that is part of the secret.
Not stopping dancing, not stopping laughing, not stopping gathering together, not stopping finding reasons to celebrate life.
As I sat there holding hands that have lived almost a century of stories, I felt incredibly grateful to be part of something so beautifully human.
The hand massages, the conversations, the laughter around the tables, the stories shared between generations, the cups of tea, the kindness...the community.
And alongside all of that, every single donation given for a hand massage is helping support PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Su***de.
Every penny truly counts.
Every conversation counts.
Every act of connection counts.
I am genuinely thrilled and honoured to play a small part in this fundraising effort and deeply grateful to everyone who sits down, shares a story, receives a little kindness and contributes in whatever way they can.
Perhaps healing often looks less like grand gestures and more like
people sitting together..
One pair of hands holding another.
A thoughtful question.
A shared smile.
And a 99 year old lady reminding us all to keep dancing π

One of my favourite parts of volunteering at our local parish centre isn't just the hand massages.
It's the conversations.
To help those conversations unfold naturally, I bring along some mindful talk cards, little invitations that somehow manage to open doors to memories, stories and parts of ourselves we haven't visited in a while.
I drew a card at the beginning too
π "What is your favourite colour, and what does it remind you of?"
Right now, my favourite colour is golden yellow.
Not mustard, not lemon, but
that warm, honeyed, sunflower, summer-evening kind of yellow.
It reminds me of one thing above all elseβ¨
Gratitude.
Gratitude for the people who sit down opposite me and allow themselves to receive a little kindness.
Gratitude for the conversations that unfold between strangers and friends.
Gratitude that the parish centre continues inviting me back.
Gratitude for every donation supporting PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Su***de.
And gratitude for the countless ways we are cared for through ordinary people showing up for one another every single day.
Perhaps that is why yellow feels so alive to me at the moment.
It reminds me of sunshine.
. of bees carrying nectar home...of candlelight....of hope..of the light that still shines quietly in people, even on difficult days.
So now I'm curious...
π What's your favourite colour at the moment, and what does it remind you of?

πΏ Body β’ Mind β’ Spirit Massage
For the hands that hold SO much
Today, I packed my towels, National Massage Day and Pro-Touch Awareness massage cream, orange flower hydrosol and grateful heart and headed to our local parish centre once again to offer hand massages to the wonderful older members of our community.
Every time I go, I think the same thing
What stories these hands must hold...and it's a wonderful way to contribute to the owners recognising that and feeling gratitude for those hands too.
Hands that have held babies.
Prepared meals.
Written letters.
Worked hard.
Comforted others.
Prayed.
Grieved.
Built lives...
Hands that have carried so much..
It is such an honour that they continue inviting me back, and I never take that privilege for granted.
This year, these little moments of connection are also helping raise funds for PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Su***de, a cause incredibly close to many hearts.
I am deeply grateful for every donation given by those who choose to sit down for a hand massage, a chat, a smile and a moment of human connection.
Sometimes healing doesn't arrive through grand gestures, sometimes it arrives through warm hands, gentle touch and somebody saying
"For these few minutes, you can simply receive."ππ»
So today's gentle invitation is this
πΏ Take a moment to thank your own hands.
And perhaps offer them a little care in return.
A favourite hand cream.
A gentle massage.
A moment of gratitude for everything they carry for you each day.
Because hands hold so much.
And they deserve kindness tooπ
