Did you know? The timing of your blood test can make a real difference to your results.
Some blood tests are accurate at any time of day, while others should be taken at specific times to give the most reliable picture of your health.
⏰ Here are a few examples:
Testosterone – Best taken between 7–10am, when levels are naturally at their highest.
Female hormone profile (FSH, LH & Oestradiol) – Ideally tested on days 2–5 of your menstrual cycle.
Progesterone – Best checked 7 days after ovulation to confirm whether ovulation has occurred.
Cortisol – Usually taken between 8–9am, as levels naturally peak in the morning.
Fasting blood tests – Some tests, such as glucose, insulin and cholesterol, may require fasting beforehand for the most accurate results.
At Thomas Medical Services, we ensure your blood tests are taken at the right time and under the right conditions, so you receive the most accurate and meaningful results possible.
If you’re unsure when your blood test should be taken, just ask we’re always happy to help. ❤️

!!!!𝐅*𝐂𝐊 𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐑!!!!!
John and his wonderful wife, Pam, are two people we’ll never forget.
When John first came to Thomas Medical Services, he had spent a great deal of time thinking about what mattered most to him. He wanted to preserve the quality of life he loved; walking his dog every day, gardening, staying active, and making memories with Pam and his family. He was concerned about the potential side effects of some cancer treatments and wanted to explore additional ways to support his health and wellbeing alongside his medical care. That journey led him to focus on nutrition, lifestyle changes, and high-dose vitamin C infusions following appropriate assessment with TMS.
Over the months, we didn’t just get to know John’s blood results, we got to know John and Pam. We celebrated every positive step, answered countless questions, and built a friendship that reminded us exactly why we do what we do.
Today, we’re incredibly grateful to share that John’s latest results show no evidence of active disease. 💙
No one can say exactly what contributed to John’s outcome, but his journey is a powerful reminder that supporting the whole person matters. Optimising nutrition, correcting deficiencies, monitoring blood markers, and providing personalised support alongside medical care can make a real difference to how someone feels throughout their journey.
John and Pam, thank you for trusting us. It has been an absolute privilege to be part of your story, and we couldn’t be happier for you both.
⚠️Shared with full consent. Every person’s journey is unique, and our care is designed to complement—not replace—the advice and treatment provided by their medical team.⚠️
𝐍𝐨 𝐃𝐨𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨!
Behind every appointment, blood test and result is a huge amount of work that many people never see.
Our reception team don’t just answer the phone or book appointments. They communicate with laboratories, liaise with clinicians, interpret request forms, ensure the correct blood tests are arranged, explain testing requirements to clients and make sure medical information is communicated as accurately as possible.
Using the correct medical terminology isn’t about making things sound complicated. It’s about ensuring your clinician, laboratory and healthcare team are all speaking the same language, helping to reduce errors and making sure you receive the right test, at the right time.
A lot happens behind the scenes before you even walk through our doors… and we’re incredibly proud of the team that makes it happen. 🤍
Understanding when to test your hormones is just as important as which hormones you test. 📊🩸
Hormone levels naturally fluctuate throughout your menstrual cycle, so testing on the wrong day can give results that don’t accurately reflect what’s happening in your body.
✨ A general guide:
• Day 1-5 of your cycle (early follicular phase): FSH, LH and Oestradiol are commonly measured to assess ovarian function and your baseline hormone levels.
• Around Day 21 (or approximately 7 days after ovulation if your cycle isn’t 28 days): Progesterone is usually checked to help confirm whether ovulation has occurred.
• Other hormones, such as testosterone, DHEAS, prolactin, AMH and thyroid function, may be tested at different times depending on your symptoms and clinical history.
💡 Remember: there isn’t a “one-size-fits-all” approach. If your cycles are irregular, you’re using hormonal contraception, or you’re post-menopausal, the ideal timing may be different.
At Thomas Medical Services, we don’t just arrange blood tests,we make sure they’re performed at the right time and interpreted alongside your symptoms, medical history and cycle. This helps us provide the most accurate results and the best possible advice for your next steps.
If you’re unsure which hormones you need or when they should be tested, get in touch with our team, we’re here to guide you every step of the way. 🤍
