💚Barrier repair is not a trend. It’s a requirement for skin to function correctly.

I regularly see inflammation, dehydration, breakouts and redness in clients who feel like their skin is “sensitive” or unpredictable.

But often, these are signs that the skin’s natural defence system isn’t functioning as well as it should.

Many brands and practitioners jump straight to actives, peels, strong exfoliants or more aggressive treatments. Barrier repair can sometimes get dismissed as “not doing enough”.

But your skin barrier is fundamental to skin health.

When your barrier is compromised, your skin can struggle to regulate water loss, protect itself from environmental stressors and maintain normal exfoliation. This is why barrier repair is usually the first thing I address in skincare plans.

Not because it’s fashionable.
Not because it’s popular.
Because healthy skin function depends on it.

I would much rather send a client away with supportive skincare for a while than book them in for treatments that might make the skin look nice short term, but ultimately leave the barrier more irritated and reactive.
