You’ve put weeks or months into training for the Aberdeen Half Marathon, don’t let poor race nutrition hold you back.
One of the biggest mistakes runners make is either not carb loading at all or massively overdoing it the night before.
Carb loading isn’t about eating as much pasta as possible. It’s about topping up your muscle glycogen stores so you have enough fuel to perform on race day.
A few simple tips:
🏃 Start increasing your carbohydrate intake 1–2 days before the race.
🥯 Eat familiar foods you’ve practised with in training.
💧 Stay hydrated throughout the week, not just the night before.
🍌 Have a carbohydrate-rich breakfast 2–4 hours before the start.
Don’t be trying new foods.
Whether you’re chasing a PB or simply looking to enjoy the experience, a good nutrition strategy can make a huge difference to your running performance.

HP:LADIES is a supportive small group training class designed to help women build strength, improve fitness and feel more confident in the gym, no matter your experience.

☀️ It’s that time again!!
Our Summer Social is planned for Saturday 4th July at 10am and is now available to book on our booking system!
We’re kicking things off with a team based workout showdown where you’ll battle it out in teams, tackling a mix of strength and endurance challenges. Expect plenty of teamwork, competition and a good laugh along the way!
Once the workout is done, we’ll fire up the BBQ, get some food and drinks, and relax at HP. BBQ is BYOF bringing in whatever you like to fire up.

From disappointment in Glasgow to a huge breakthrough in Berlin, Becky completely transformed her HYROX performance in just 8 weeks.
Her first solo HYROX highlighted key areas for improvement, particularly her station strength and running efficiency.
We didn’t even have the chance to get an initial call in. She apologised for the info dump, I called it perfect and we got straight to work 😂
Just a structured HYROX training plan, nutrition plan, and consistent effort.
While working full time, being a mum, and managing everyday life - it was a tough block, but she checked in, felt tired at times, we adjusted, she listened and trusted the process.
A massive 8+ minute personal improvement and, even more importantly, a hard earned sub 90 finish. 🔥
For anyone who has chased a time goal, you’ll know the pressure you put on yourself. In a short space of time, she smashed through a barrier that once felt out of reach and proved what can happen when you trust the plan.
This is what happens when smart training, strength work, running, and nutrition come together.
