Today I spent the day at Cornwall College in St Austell. With the most amazing team of educators.

These women are some of the most motivated, organised, empathetic, motivating and positive women I’ve ever met.

And they’ve decided to dedicate their skills to teaching NVQ students.

And as a result, the NVQ students I was teaching today, were the most engaged, positive and confident NVQ students I’ve ever met!

What a gift to these students, Cornwall college and our industry!

The future is in good hands with women like these training the next generation of hairdressers 🧡🧡🧡

8 years into my hairdressing journey.

Following my hairdressing dreams.

It was my first year with the ID artist programme and let me tell you, that programme was a dream come true!
🧡
I got to learn from some incredible hairdressers
🧡
And it’s where I made friends with my now boss
🧡
I have some amazing memories from that time and I’m so grateful for everything it blessed me with.
🧡
I was dead nervous before the audition for ID Artists and honestly didn’t believe I had a hope in hell of getting a place.
🧡
But, Iv always believed that the only way to guarantee failure is not to try. So I gave it my all and it worked out pretty well
🧡
I’m sharing this in the hope that it inspires one person who’s doubting themselves to just go for it and follow their dreams.

Here’s to all the hairdressers🥂
🥂To the salons who are keeping going to make sure everyone has a job at the end of this.
🥂To the hairdressers who are self isolating to protect themselves and the people around them.
🥂To the self employed and employed stylists who have no choice but to carry on to support their families.
We are all stuck between a rock and a hard place.
🥂And to all the clients who are sticking to good hygiene regimes,
Supporting their stylists,
And cancelling if they’re ill.
Us hairdressers are a wonderfully positive bunch and this WILL NOT beat us! 💪💪

Iv been struggling a lot with this lately.
And if I’m honest it’s really knocked my confidence.

I used to look forward to capturing the perfect pic and showing it off on social media, but now, honestly, it makes me feel a bit sick😰

I’m very lucky that I work for a company that are social media experts, so I know I’ll get support and mentoring from and to help me get better.

But here’s the problem,,, I work for a company that are social media experts!!!!😱 and now I feel like I now have to up my game! And it’s crushing me. Just like when a new colour technique gets plastered all over Instagram and I don’t know how to do it, I suddenly question my skills, I feel inadequate and I think I’m a terrible hairdresser!!!

But I’m not, I’m just comparing myself to people who do know how to do it and getting stressed.
And if I can just learn how to do it from those people I’ll feel so much better.

I guess I’m saying knowledge is power. And that education in so valuable, not just for your skills, but for your state of mind.

I love being an educator for and I know, I need only ask and I’ll get all the help I need with my social media, but it’s taken me a while to realise that it’s not just hair education that’s important to me, it’s picture taking too.📸

This is the fabulous singer/blogger/photographer/social media advisor and all round rock star!
We met a few years ago and her hair had been ravaged by bleach and poor health. It was so bad we couldn’t colour it for 6 months we just did lots of treatments. But we had to get her back to blonde! She was just born to be blonde! One of the strongest women I know, incredibly talented and creative, she was not meant to just blend in. And I’m so glad I could give her back her strong, blonde hair.
