Respectfully… this is my opinion and the thought process behind my protocol.
I’ve had a number of new clients lately tell me about their previous microneedling experiences, and one question keeps coming up…
“Why don’t you steam beforehand?”
And honestly—it’s a really good question.
Steaming can feel like the “right” prep step. It softens the skin, opens everything up, and feels relaxing… so I completely understand why it’s often included.
But when it comes to microneedling, I take a different approach.
For me, it’s about control.
Microneedling is a precise, results-driven treatment. Not a “Facial”. I want the skin to be calm, balanced and predictable—not overheated, over-hydrated or already inflamed before I even begin.
Heat increases blood flow.
Steam softens the skin.
And together, that can mean less control over depth, more inflammation, and a higher chance of unnecessary downtime.
That’s why my focus is always on preparing the skin properly—not just adding steps for the sake of it. I love an enzyme peel before needling to soften and release the surface skin cells.
Every part of my protocol has a reason behind it, and ultimately it comes down to one thing:
getting you the best possible results, safely.
