🧡 I’ve also shared my story behind choosing this charity to run for 🧡

Hi, I'm Lauren, and I'm running the 2027 London Marathon in support of Alzheimer's Research UK.

This charity is incredibly close to my heart. My grandad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in the 1990s, at a time when far less was known about the condition than today. Watching him live with this cruel disease at such a young age was heartbreaking, and as a family we often felt helpless.

Over the years, I have seen many advances in research, care and management strategies that have helped people living with Alzheimer's and their families. Sadly, I have also seen friends experience the impact of this disease on their own loved ones, which has only strengthened my determination to help.

Ever since my grandad's diagnosis, I have wanted to do something meaningful to support the fight against Alzheimer's. I decided to take on a challenge that would really push me outside my comfort zone – and what bigger challenge is there than running a marathon?

In 2027, it will be 27 years since my grandad sadly passed away. Running the London Marathon feels like a fitting way to honour his memory while raising money for vital research that could help future generations.

Grandad, I know you would be immensely proud. This is for you. I love you and will carry your memory with me every step of the way.

If you are able to donate, no matter how big or small, I would be incredibly grateful. Every contribution helps support life-changing research into Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia.
