This months “try something new” 🙌🏽
I made a promise to myself to try something new/scary/exciting etc every month.
Whenever presented with the opportunity to do something I havnt done before, I have to say yes (within reason 😜)
Teaching small group PT at ticks off May’s one for me!
I have been thoroughly impressed with the gym & classes there! The equipment is all top notch, the staff are super friendly and helpful & the members are amazing! They have been so welcoming to me & I have really enjoyed teaching!
Thank you for the warm welcome 🤙🏽♥️

I started pole lessons this week; and one of the things I love most about starting a new “sport”
Or learning a new skill is that it highlights your weaknesses.
It’s so easy to get used to your gym programmes & doing what you’re good at and comfortable with.
It also reignites a passion for things you havnt done for a while.
So im back on practicing some of the basic gymnastics moves & hoping this will help my ability to pick up the pole skills.
It’s not always easy and not always pretty, but it’s fun ☺️ and I think that as adults we don’t just play with movement enough…
So this is a little nudge to have a go at the thing you’ve been saying you want to try; it can’t hurt 🤪🤓

What age would you say this client is?
Would you be surprised if I said mid 60s?
Strength training means slowing and reversing the aging process at the cellular and genetic level, increase your energy, protect against the effects of aging, improve insulin resistance (the kindling for all sorts of diseases), reduce mortality and improve brain function.
A big culprit for losing our physical abilities as we grow older is the age-related loss of muscle mass and strength, which is called sarcopenia. Typically, muscle mass and strength increase steadily from birth and reach their peak at around 30 to 35 years of age. After that, muscle power and performance.
However, such average decline of strength and power with aging can be substantially slowed down by maintaining an active lifestyle. While there is no way to fully “stop the clock,” it’s possible for many older adults to increase muscle strength with exercise, which can help maintain mobility and independence into later life.

Great feedback from my client Phil, who has trained with me for around 8 years now 😄. His training goals change & we adapt based on whatever events he’s signed up for and whichever country he’s spending the month in; but what stays consistent is his dedication and discipline ⭐️
Recently we have been incorporating sports massage after his PT sessions, but today due to certain “injuries”, we did soft tissue release during his rest periods; and it made for a brilliant session 🤙🏽🙌🏽
I don’t believe in working around problems, I believe in fixing them at the root cause! And today we managed just that 🤩🙌🏽

Cheeky little finisher today for one of my clients after a push session…
1 min max watt output on assault bike
1 min row max distance
1 min core
Repeat x 3
See how you feel after 😏😜

Well if you want to see what poor shoulder external rotation looks like… swipe ➡️
I knew my shoulder injury (originating from doing boxing padwork with massive MMA guys) was still bad, but until today didn’t quite realise how different the rotator cuffs were between the two shoulders 🥵
