Blepharoplasty is focused on a very small area, but the difference can be seen in how the eyes sit within the face.

In this before and after image, the change is around the upper eyelids. Excess skin has been reduced, allowing the eye area to appear more open while still looking like the same person.

In this comparison, the clearest change sits in the lower lid, not the upper one.

Before surgery, this patient had visible puffiness beneath both eyes, often caused by small pockets of fat that begin to bulge forward as the supporting tissue around them weakens with age. It is one of the more common reasons people feel they look tired, even when they are well rested.

This is Mr Ahmad, Consultant Plastic Surgeon in Cambridge, mid-procedure, wearing surgical loupes for the kind of close, exact work that doesn't show up until the results do, weeks later. At six weeks post-op, what changes most is how much light reaches the eye itself, now that the upper lid is no longer partially covering it.

Before surgery, excess skin along the upper eyelid had been resting low enough to shadow the eye and reduce the visible width of the iris, which is often read, subconsciously, as fatigue. Removing that excess skin does not alter the eye's shape. It simply gives it back the space it had gradually lost.
This is a blepharoplasty performed by Mr Ahmad in Cambridge. Six weeks is still relatively early in recovery, and the area will continue to settle and soften over the following months.

Blepharoplasty is not the right procedure for every patient with heavy eyelids. The decision depends on factors including skin elasticity, brow position, and how much of the visual field is genuinely affected, all of which would be assessed individually at consultation.
