these work on the emotions rather than the physical symptoms

The path to happiness and health is balancing Spirit, Body, and Mind. Dr. Bach discovered a system created by nature that is so simple and natural that anyone can use and learn how to find balance. It is called The Bach Flower Remedies.

Dr Bach assigned his 38 remedies in seven different groups. At first glance you might not find it so obvious as to why a remedy is in a particular group. In my book, Emotional Wisdom with Bach Flower Remedies, I give an overview description to each group to provide some context. For example, for the group Uncertainty:

“We are all born with an innate potential that requires the right environment to blossom. Life however throws many challenges and obstacles in our path that feed our doubts and insecurities, leaving us unsure as to whether we should trust our gut feeling or intuition or common sense. We forget that those very obstacles can enable us to stretch and grow into our potential, if only we would be open to the emotional wisdom that is so close at hand within us. The six remedies that Dr Bach assigned to this group will each in their own way provide you with the opportunity to reconnect to hope and to certainty.”

The flowers in this group are: Cerato (certainty), Gentian (trust in life), Gorse (resilience and hope), Hornbeam (spontaneity), Scleranthus (decisiveness), Wild Oat (clear purpose).

Looking more closely at Gorse. Glorious golden yellow with the promise of brilliant days ahead. Which can be hard to believe when feeling as if in a state of stagnation. Perhaps there has been long term chronic illness, or an intractable life situation that has sapped your will. Dr Bach describes Gorse as for those with “Very great hopelessness, they have given up belief that more can be done for them. Under persuasion or to please others they may try different treatments, at the same time assuring those around there is so little hope of relief.”

Restoring the will to push on, find a way through difficulties without being swamped by them, is something that Gorse can really help with.

What have you noticed in your experience of Gorse? 🌺

Random Acts of Kindness Week 14/02/2025

Make Kindness the Norm, Not the Exception

In a world full of opportunities to connect and uplift one another, kindness has the power to shine brightly. What if we made kindness the norm -the foundation of how we live and interact every day? Random Acts of Kindness Week taking place this month, is a perfect reminder of how thoughtful gestures can spark joy, inspire change, and create lasting impact. Let’s celebrate this week as a chance to embrace kindness as a daily habit and a way of life.

Kindness Builds Stronger Connections
Kindness fosters trust, empathy, and connection. When kindness becomes a daily habit, it creates a ripple effect that strengthens relationships - whether at school, in workplaces, or at home. By making kindness the norm, we cultivate an environment where everyone feels valued, supported, and inspired.

Kindness Improves Mental and Physical Well-Being
Engaging in acts of kindness has been scientifically proven to enhance both mental and physical health. Performing kind deeds releases feel-good hormones like oxytocin and serotonin, which help reduce stress and increase happiness. Regularly practicing kindness can lead to lower blood pressure, improved mental health, and even increased lifespan. By making kindness the norm, we not only uplift others but also promote our own well-being.

Kindness Creates a Ripple Effect
Witnessing or experiencing kindness inspires others to pay it forward, creating a chain of positivity that spreads far beyond the initial act. This ripple effect has the power to influence entire communities and even spark systemic change.

Kindness Breaks Down Barriers
Kindness transcends differences in culture, background, and beliefs. By making kindness the norm, we create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome and respected. Kindness bridges gaps, fosters understanding, and helps us see each other as humans first.

Kindness Inspires Action
When kindness is the norm, people are more likely to step up. Whether it’s helping a neighbour, supporting a cause, or standing up against injustice, kindness as a baseline encourages us to take meaningful action.

How to Make Kindness the Norm

Start Small: Incorporate simple acts of kindness into your daily routine, like offering compliments, holding the door open, or lending a helping hand.
Model Kindness: Be an example for others, especially children, by showing kindness in your words and actions.
Amplify It: Share stories of kindness to inspire others and spread positivity.
Create Systems: Advocate for policies and practices -in workplaces, and communities -that encourage and reward kindness.
Making kindness the norm isn’t just a lofty ideal - it’s a practical, powerful way to improve our world. When we choose kindness as our default, we create an environment where everyone can thrive. It’s not about waiting for the extraordinary; it’s about recognising that everyday acts have extraordinary potential. Together, we can make kindness the norm, not the exception. And that’s a world worth striving for.
