Let’s not blame the inks… nor the lack of education in our industry (I mean finding the Vermilion is quite hard!) 👇🏻

Instead of making better choices, let’s all keep our fingers crossed 🤞🏻 that our clients NEVER dislike the colour nor that they ever change their minds. They’d be crazy to ever want it removed, right?

But when and if they do… let’s keep everything crossed that we made the right choices for them and they won’t have to walk around with yellow lips (apologies to the famous Titanium Dioxide for not giving it the credit - after all, without it the Yellow wouldn’t be so shiny and sparkly ✨)

Meanwhile, here I am waiting for a time when PMU Artists stop over-lining, stop over-saturating or create whatever colours they think are trendy in the name or ‘art’. I don’t know how much longer I can keep the faith going 😐

Case study:

NEUTRALISATION GONE WRONG
• Lips with melanin
• inconsistent saturation / blending
• deep implantation in certain areas
• client unhappy with the brightness of the colour and how it had faded 3 years later

RISKS:
⚠️ neutralisation colours contain a lot of Titanium Dioxide which could darken after laser
⚠️ lips with melanin could react aggressively to laser removal = trauma
⚠️ white looking lips in the form of residual titanium after the red is removed

GOAL: to reduce the brightness of the colour to something more acceptable for my client but not remove too much red to avoid the lips looking too white

First 2 are risks only when you don’t understand how to control the laser or when you have limited knowledge on pigments chemistry

The last risk is VALID for all lip colours that have a high % of WHITE content. If only more Artists would understand this once and for all😒 If it looks milky or pastel before being tattooed in the skin, how do you expect it will look years down the line

RESULT: one removal and we already saw a more acceptable colour. We did one more with less targeted areas this time. Happy clients, happy me 🥰

Q. DOES THE OCCULAR SHIELD HURT?
It depends on how the client collaborates with us. If you squint and squeeze your eyes shut then it might feel more uncomfortable than it should. But 99% of clients say the shield doesn’t hurt, it just feels uncomfortable, weird or claustrophobic 👀

Q. DOES THE LASER REMOVAL HURT?
Yes. No point to sugarcoat it, honesty is my policy. Do you simply hate your eyeliner tattoo? Then it’s worth it! It’s super quick

Q. WILL I BE ABLE TO DRIVE AFTER?
Yes. There will be swelling and/or redness but typically the inflammation gets worse as the hours go by. Next day morning it will be worse so you should be fine to drive after. Can you ask someone to drive you? That would be ideal 🚕

Q. WHAT SHOULD I AVOID?
Before: no lash extensions, no contacts, no lash serums (discontinue one month prior)
After: hot & steamy environments, no contacts for a few days, lash extensions for a week
