Why does my tummy make water-moving or gurgling noises during Lymphatic Drainage Massage?
During a lymphatic drainage massage, very gentle, rhythmic movements are used to stimulate the lymphatic system and encourage excess fluid and waste to move through the body.
The abdomen contains a high concentration of lymph nodes and is also closely connected to the digestive system. When these movements activate the lymph flow:
• Trapped fluid begins to move, which can sound like water shifting
• The massage stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system (rest-and-digest), waking up the gut
• The intestines may start moving more actively, creating gurgling or swooshing sounds
