☀️ Sun VS sunbeds – what’s the difference?
⛅️ The sun emits ultraviolet light in three ranges: UVA, UVB and UVC. Each affects your skin differently:
UVA – can cause sunburn if over-exposed and it is more effective in ‘browning’ the pigment grains in your skin.
UVB – higher energy and triggers melanin production but can burn your skin faster. Most UVB rays are absorbed by the upper atmosphere but some reach the earth’s surface.
UVC – this is dangerous to humans. The earth’s surface is protected from UVC rays, as they’re filtered out by the upper atmosphere.
A sunbed on the other hand, emits a controlled dose of UVA and UVB to give a long-lasting, deep tan, minimising any risk of over-exposure and burning.
