Meet Sally.
Sally joined us for a MastectoME photoshoot yesterday, and she’s someone who really stays with you.
After a double mastectomy and the loss of her daughter to a brain tumour in 2021, her story carries so much. But spending time with her, what really stood out was her warmth, and the way she just quietly owns who she is.
It was an honour to photograph her and to share a small part of her story.
If this resonates, a like, comment or share really helps us reach more women who might need this.
If you’d like to support the project and help us work with more women like Sally, you can donate here:

We had a brilliant shoot with Suzi today at the Anderton Centre near Chorley.
She absolutely smashed it, and so did Daisy! The images are going to be powerful and full of strength.
The MastectoME Beauty Project is all about creating these moments — giving women a space to feel seen and supported.

Latest update on the MastectoME Beauty Project.
All participants will provide a short story (up to 250 words), which will be displayed alongside their portrait in our upcoming gallery exhibition.
We hope to secure funding for the exhibition soon.
Their short personal story will be printed on an A3 foamboard.
Below is an example of Clare's story to give you an idea of how it will look alongside their portrait . . .

We had the loveliest session with Hayley, who walked in with a pink theme in mind and walked out looking like she’d been dipped in pure joy.
Anya worked her magic as always, and yes — the pink robe was mine! I brought it “just in case,” and it turned out to be the piece that pulled everything together.
Hayley’s energy filled the whole room. She laughed, she glowed, she let herself enjoy every minute — and we loved every second of it.
I know we always say this, but it’s true: these sessions aren’t just photoshoots. They’re connection, courage, creativity, and a whole lot of heart.
Hayley, you were wonderful. Thank you for trusting us.

Yesterday we celebrated a milestone — the halfway mark in our MastectoME Beauty Project, with 20 photoshoots now completed!
This is Kate, styled as our woodland goddess. With ivy in her hair and her beautiful tattoo flowing like branches across her skin, she radiated serenity, strength, and pure natural beauty.
We also had the joy of photographing Nichola, who chose a striking poppies-and-reds theme (and even brought her daughter along for some very special portraits together). I’ll be sharing a little glimpse from her shoot soon.
A huge thank you to Fiona Walker Photography, who so generously allows us the use of her gorgeous studio in Hazel Grove. It’s such a welcoming, creative space, and it makes these sessions even more magical.
We’re halfway there: 20 down, 20 to go — and every story so far has been extraordinary.
👉 Follow along with us as we continue this journey, and keep an eye out for updates on the exhibition where these incredible portraits will be shared with the world.

Proud moment alert!
Here I am with the lovely David from Mill House Framing Studio, holding the framed sample portrait of Pauline from our MastectoME Beauty Project, and it’s a beauty!
David did a stunning job printing the image, and it was framed with care at their Standish studio. Huge thanks also to James Bartholomew, owner of Mill House Framing and The Mill House Gallery, for his support of the project.
This framed sample will help us in the next step of our journey, applying for funding and grants, so we can continue to offer empowering portrait experiences to women who’ve had a mastectomy.
Another big thank you goes to Suzanne Waring from The Helping Hands Group, who has kindly offered to sponsor this framed print. I’ll be sharing a separate post with Suzanne soon. Watch this space!
The MastectoME Beauty Project is all about celebrating courage, identity, and the powerful beauty that shines through when women feel truly seen.
More to come!
