Bringing Fitness to Your Community

Your Community Fitness was established in 2010 to provide fitness classes in the local community utilising school and village halls. 10 years on the combination of technology has allowed YCF to engage more people in various classes from Zumba, HIIT, Kettlebells, Pilates, Zumba, Strong Nation and much more by live streaming classes from local facilities that are then saved to our growing video library that can be accessed on-demand.

Strength?! What do we understand about strength training.

As mentioned in previous posts we are all different - we’ve taken part in different sports and activities throughout our life, we’ve broken different bones (some people none at all), we’ve torn different muscles, ligaments and tendons and different levels of severity.

Some of us don’t exercise at all, some of us exercise too much. Some of us can go into a squat with ease, some of us feel like our hips are going to tear apart.

How do we get stronger? Well you be pleased to know the exercises to get stronger don’t really differ - you choose an exercise and by working over a certain period of time or a set amount of repetitions - the muscle fibres will fatigue and when they repair (with the help of bit of protein) they get bigger and stronger. Oh and remember be consistent to gain results quicker.

Why use a strength coach? We don’t actually know when to carry on and when to stop! Knowing your limits and progressing through them is the key to getting stronger whilst working with your own body’s ability.

Remember strength training can also improve cardiovascular fitness due to the demands being put on the muscles that elevate the heart rate, as well as speeding up your metabolic rate, reduce the risk of arthritis, help with osteoporosis, reduce blood pressure, help with falls prevention, lower the risk of injury, improve blood sugar levels… oh and it can help with looking good on the beach ☀️😉
