My journey on HRT at 41

09/11/2022

Part 2 today 9/11/22
Today I had to get more patches. But had to see another Dr. Lovely lady. Whom I have seen many times before. She told me to get some deep heat for my pains in my feet. As it does not seem like joint pain, so it's more likely not to be arthritis. I spoke to her about my weight and I weighed myself and I HAVE put weight on. So we chatted and she said to lower my carb intake which I will start doing. I can double up on veg. But not route veg like carrots and parsnips as there higher in carbs ( I never knew that) I love carrots so I will lower my intake. She also said there is a shortage of patches still so pre sent my next 2, 3 month worth of patches to chemist along with the ones I need now. And come back to her if I have any problems. She was lovely and also said I was very lucky to have started on my patches as I had as if it was another Dr. I would not have got them so easy!

I was on antidepressants before I started my patches. But because I did not take them regularly enough I was told to stop while i startied the patches incase they help with my mental health. I would say the patches help but asked to go back on them. Which I will be.

Sorry its been a while.
9/11/22 today's date
Tuesday I took my last patch from my 3rd box. Which makes it 3 months since I started HRT.
Symptoms..... I still get pains in my feet but the edge has been taken off. I have been quite late the last 2 periods! Like a week late. But this time I was stop on and came on at 4am with no back pain to say I was due on. I just came on. I have been on quite heavy too. But at the moment I am on light flow. But day 2 and have had bad back pain and feel crap. But I possibly have the flu as I am feeling out of sorts. ( lucky had my flu jab a few weeks back thankfully or I could be very unwell now)
The tenderness of my breaststroke and little to none. I get head aches acasonaly. Normally when I am stressed or on. hot flushes are rare but the last 3nights I sweat in bed then I get cold. Its covers on cover's off. Then I need to change my top because I am wet!
I felt I was gaining weight ( even though I started running again and trying to do better at eatting!!! Which is annoying!
I get palpitations accasonly. And my sleep is not good (but I do have a 3yr old lol)

Wednesday 21/9/22
Hello everyone.
Well i never got a call back from the drs about stopping my patches to catch up with my periods. (Due to not reading the leaflet vorrectly as it says wait till day 5 of your period before using your first patch!
So I carryed on using them, and I can confirm I am still getting only one period thank fully.

I have also discovered while chatting to.my sister that every time o change a patch I need to swop butt cheeks. So the patch can get round the body better. Which have started doing.
I have now used 1 box and now.on my second of 3. As I have to see the Dr again after 3 boxes to talk about what symptoms have changed if any.
Thank you for reading.

Okay tonight 23/8/22
After doing a little reading online about symptoms I have discovered I did not, I repeat did not read the leaflet for my meds in full πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ I am blaming my lack of concentration, brain fog and general not being with it.

Infact when starting Patches is clearly states to start the patches 5days into your next menstrual cycle!! This is so the hormones and your body get in sink together! 😳 so tomorrow I am going to seek medical help an see if I can come of my patch untill I come on. ( like 7 days time) as I have read that by starting them mid month you may end up with 2 periods, one normal and one due to the patches. Or intermittent spotting.
So I will update when I find out what I should do.
To me it makes more sense to stop using them and wait as I have not even been on them for a week. ( some people have been on them a few months to find this information out and still have bleeding problems months on)

Started my first patch on 20th/8/2022
Was quite excited but also worried as I read the side effects. But there's side effects to every medication πŸ’Š.
I felt a little light headed durring the day! But nothing to bad. And also been suffering wirh PMT pains in belly and back, it was like i was due on.
Durring the afternoon I had a bit to drink with friends and I can only describe my feeling as excitable! Which I put down to using the patches for the first time. It was like I was on a high.
On the Sunday my feet which have hurt everyday for many months actually felt a lot better! It was very strange. The Pain had subsided already πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ pain had not gone but they most certainly did not hurt as bad. I am shocked that it was only 24h after starting but I am most definitely not knocking this.
And I put my second patch on today 23/8/2022
I have had quite a stressfull weekend, but today it has been slightly relived.
My back pain and tummy pain durring the evening has got bad and I realy feel like I am about to come on!! I am not due on for another 7 days ish!

I went to my Dr on the 19th of August 2022.
Thinking my dr would say no ( because I have read into the fact some drs are not aware of HRT) I gave my list of Symptoms to him on paper.
Aches and pains
Fuzzy head
Periods are painfull and heavy and not like they used to be.
Painfull feet and ankles,
Sleep pattern and lack of sleep
Tieredness and general fatigue
Depression/low mood/ anxiety / stress
How sweats
Palpitations
Stomach pains
Irritability
Irrabable Leg
Breast pain, tenderness
Lack of motivation
Lose of libido
All these have happend within the last year. I have had a few prior but not put together with another Symptoms.
And the Dr just asked me if I would like to start HRT. And what I wanted to take?
I told him I had no clue.
He offered me gel, patches, or tablets.
He helped me decide and we choise patches!
I came away from the Drs pretty happy that I got what I needed when I actually though I was going to have a verbal fight on my hands and come away with nothing!
This counts as a Win to me! πŸ†

My Journey using HRT
Today 23/8/22

So not only do us as woman get given monthly cycles of periods, and also be the one to possibly bare a child, we also have to go through the menopause!

Hello welcome to my page/blog
I am 41 mum and wife with 3 boys ages 21, 13 and 3. And this is my diary which i have decided to share, Starting my Perri menopause.

My symptoms consisted of aches and pains, hot flushes and a few others which I will list later.
I have had these symptoms for about a year. My mum was 37 when hers started but she was given the pill to cover her symptoms and never had HRT, my sister who is 2.5 years older than me started hers in the last year but started hers a few years back.
So due to the stigma around HRT and lack of knowledge from doctors I hope to help others like myself along the way.
