I heard Professor Chambers on Woman’s Hour yesterday and the interview really spoke to me. She talks about social pressure that make you feel that you are not good enough, causing you to change your physical appearance. From a really young age and throughout my twenties that is exactly how I felt and it took a long time to get out of this cycle. Now everything I do to my body whether that’s exercise, looking after my skin or what I’m eating are a way of showing myself love and respect. The reason I’m in the beauty industry is to encourage people to take care of both their minds and their bodies. Have treatments because you love yourself and not because you’re trying to reach some ideal that is ultimately unobtainable.

Morning skincare routine complete and now I can get on with the rest of my day. It only takes a couple of minutes to cleanse, treat, moisturise and apply SPF. I’ve never had problematic skin but before I really committed to taking care of my skin it was dull looking; I’m happy with how it looks now. Maybe the next thing I should do is brush my hair.
