Her dream hair was always a soft brunette balayage, but somehow she’d ended up much blonder than she’d intended.
After a good chat and a thorough consultation, we put together a plan to get her back to the colour she’d wanted all along and how we can get her to a lower maintenance grow out in future.

This lovely client came to me wanting one thing... lower maintenance hair.
She was fed up with the grow-out line, wanted to embrace her greys, and wanted the freedom to get her hair done when she wanted to, not because she felt she had to.
When I suggested a grey blending approach, she was understandably nervous. She didn’t dislike her previous colour, but it wasn’t giving her the softer, more seamless grow-out she was looking for.
Using fine babylights throughout her incredibly thick, long hair, we mirrored what her natural hair was already doing. More baby lights where the greys were naturally stronger, less where they were sparse, and carefully added depth in between to recreate that beautiful salt-and-pepper effect.
The result? Softer, more dimensional, and designed to grow out far more naturally.
Is it perfect? Not quite, in my eyes.
Is she much happier? Absolutely.
The reality with grey blending is that we can only work with what the hair will allow us to do on the day. If there’s years of warmth and old colour sitting in the hair, we remove as much as we safely can and then tone the rest. Personally, I can still see areas I’d love to refine further, but grey blending is rarely a straight-line journey.
The difference is that as her hair grows, the regrowth will blend far more seamlessly. Future maintenance won’t be another huge highlighting appointment, it’ll be toner refreshes and the right home care to keep unwanted warmth under control.
Grey blending isn’t about covering your greys. It’s about working with them, creating a plan, and trusting the process. 💚
